Safe to make USB ISO from infected PC?

SocomSuade

Do it while in safe mode with networking

I'm sure this is as Noob as it gets so I apologize.

I just built my first PC and now I need to install Windows.

I wanted to download the ISO to a USB for the install

But I'm afraid I could damage my new PC.

My old PC that I would Download the ISO from has had lots of viruses and is in bad shape.

Is this a safe thing to do? Is there any possibility whatsoever that I could damage my new PC if I do this?

1. Download Ubuntu.

2. Boot PC from Ubuntu USB.

3. Create Windows USB.

Done deal, all safe and clean as Windows malware wont run on Linux even if it does spread to your Ubuntu USB drive. You'll just need two USB drives in order to do that. I'd personally install Linux on your other machine if you're that prone to malware (since you've got a new machine for Windows).

Appreciate the tip. I ended up just rebuying windows. Didn't seem like it was worth the risk.

Spent a lot on this machine and needed piece of mind I suppose.
