I'm kinda shaking (well more so shivering) but that's probably because I'm cold and getting a teary eyed. No I'm not sad at least I don't think so because I'm pretty excited about this PC.

That's not bad I assume?    Certainly better than my trying to experiment with my playing Pillars of Eternity on my 2011 Mac Mini.  I'd thought swapping one of the 1GB RAM chips with a new 8GB chip would help but it doesn't seem to have.  

 

I still get about 15 fps.    Though I think the fan didn't get as loud as before the RAM upgrade.  Before the fan got super loud and the mini got really hot.  

 

 

 

Nehalem?   Sorry I'm not familiar with all the code names for CPUs...

Which would those be?

 

It's partly your usernames (I like them), partly that you use cute Pokemon and he uses an awesome Holo cosplay (Spice and Wolf is one of my favorite anime), and partly just a feeling/instinct that make you two stand out in my mind.  

 

I guess the best way to explain that last part would be:

 

You know how you look at the color blue and you "just know" it's blue?  It's like that.  I think of you two and it's like my brain associates that with the sentiment "awwwwww"/hyper cute.

I see the future of external GPUs where I can use it with a lot of computers. How I wish Apple supports them officially.

I haven't done any PC gaming other than at home in years but I love the idea of an eGPU setup like this.  

 

It's the best solution short of making laptop GPUs user upgradable to extending the gaming lifespan of a laptop.

 

I'd go so far as to say it's better than being able to upgrade a laptop GPU because that would ultimately have limits whereas an eGPU can be upgraded for longer into the future as new I/O types and GPU connectors are introduced (newer PCIE slots I mean) then updated eGPU enclosures can be made.

Maybe when Intel releases Thunderbolt 4 when eGPUs will perform as if they're inside the PC. I don't really know why Apple picked AMD instead of NVIDIA. They used to utilize NVIDIA cards for their Macs I think around 2010 or 2011.

Probably because AMD is cheaper than Nvidia and greedy Apple wants to maximize profits.  

 

Yeah.  My brother has a MacBook Pro that I believe is either a late 2009 or early 2010 model and it has a Nvidia dedicated GPU.

As long as it has Thunderbolt 3 port. I think all you need are updated Thunderbolt drivers and drivers for the graphics card.

It also needs to explicitly support eGPUs. The Thinkpad P50 and P70 had Thunderbolt 3 and they were not eGPU-capable.
