Two HOURS of fiddling with the BIOS to get the machine to post with 48GB of RAM. D:  I've never had to upp the VCCSA voltage before but that is apparently SUPER necessary with these RAM kits.  Then I had to up it even more to make it POST with 48GB -and- USB3 devices plugged in.  No, really. o.O   I bet it'll be super fun once I can secure another 16GB to max* the board out.

 

*Board can also support very, very expensive 16GB DDR3 sticks for a total of 128GB with a Beta BIOS, but at like $800/stick that's so not happening.

It's some sorta specialized stuff since unregistered 16GB DDR3 sticks were otherwise not really a thing.  Though some other companies made them and maybe the price has come down since I last looked.
