I know I'm definitely not a super huge fan of the height of the H440 now having owned it for almost a year. When I got it, I didn't think the height was actually that big of a deal.

But like, I'm super mixed about the tempered glass Meshify C, I really like the way it looks but I kinda wished that maybe I could've gotten it with a normal side panel with an acrylic window like the one in the H440.

lol I need a bigger case at some point  More 5.25" bays and more room for cooling

Certainly the H440 is a nice case, but re-evaluating my needs and wants it doesn't seem like the H440 quite fits the bill any more. At the time I was aiming for something a little different than what I'm aiming for now. If I could get a Coffee i5 8600K to work on my Z170 board, I guess I wouldn't have a reason to want an R7 1700, and in fairness the 6700K/7700K aren't bad chips but 4c/8t might be limiting in like 2-3 years. I don't think it'll be shit, but I do think we'll see a shift in preference towards 6c/6t, 6c/12t, and 8c/16t CPUs in that 2-3 year time frame.

 

I'm sort of considering a Define C or Define C Mini as alternatives to the Meshify C as I'm not totally keen on TG, I mean it kinda looks nice but I think it's too much of a pain for what it's worth in regards to care. I mean it has sounded like people with TG cases haven't had to do too much out of the ordinary to keeping their TG case looking nice but still I just kinda feel like it's one of those fads that truly doesn't offer any real benefit outside of subjectivity.

 

What does suck, is that at least on PCPartPicker there aren't any X300 mATX boards or X370 mATX boards. Except for like one BioStar board maybe.

Your post was a very interesting read. It did show up on WAN Show a while back. I’m still wondering what  A.I. like this would actually be used for in a productive manner. I know plenty of people whose face structure wouldn’t match the “gay or straight” criteria given to that algorithm. There’s so many variables at play, and that’s not even getting into the fact that they only were able to perform the test with one “group” of people: white and from the US. It is interesting to me how much more accurate the algorithm was at determining the sexuality of males than females.

Bunk and hokum, there is much more to human sexuality than gay or straight. It only feeds into things like bisexual erasure. Furthermore, the basis of its concept is the unproven theory of prenatal testosterone causing gender identity and sexual orientation. However, one of the most well-known indicators of prenatal testosterone 2D:4D digit ratio has proven to be a flawed predictor of gender identity and sexual orientation for academic purposes. This work is no more than pseudo-science at best and distortion of reality at worst.

Seriously though, I think if we really want to detect at least the human sexuality that I wouldn't say that goes beyond what has been observed in other species, I think understanding environmental and genetic factors would be more important than understanding facial features as an indicator of sexuality. I also think that like what @Dan Castellaneta said in that thread is pretty accurate it is very much a slippery slope in to regards how it could be applied.

Now for fun, if there was no data collection on the refined product and it was just one of those for the hell of it kind of deals, I would see what it said about something I already know. 

 

 

But in countries that persecute and/or execute gays, I could see them wanting this as a way to make their case for someone being gay on the basis of the results that it fed-back.

There are actually earlier studies from decades ago suggesting that homosexual men have testosterone deficiencies but modern 21^st century medicine have thoroughly refuted that and observation of men working out simply rules that theory out. A lot of hot dudes on Instagram are gays and working out especially resistance training stimulates human growth hormone and testosterone and many of them are taking anabolic steroids, and yet they are very gay.

 

There have been a plethora of studies in finding for the so - called "gay gene" but scientists didn't find any. No DNA sequence, no mutation, zero, zip genes. I've been reading some books and other materials since I think of myself as a bit of a history nerd (History channel not included) and the earliest extant of homosexual practices dates around the Bronze age when people started to write like the Cuneiform tablets, the Egyptian papyri, Lascaux paintings in France, and the temples in Gobekli Tepe in Turkey. Homosexual relationships are well known in ancient Mediterranean and Levant as indicated by pottery paintings of two men having sex or thinly disguised soft core porn in the writings of ancient historians like Plato and Aristotle or in ancient scriptures that are still with us like, many of which are dated centuries to at least several thousand years before the common era.

Well in the Google Doc the authors made which I attached in the OP, they specifically said that they've excluded bisexuals and that their study subjects are narrow: white gay and lesbians in the US, so there's a lot of room for error. I think they made that decision because of difficulty in finding subjects and I agree. While social experiments are way less regulated than drug experiments involving animals and humans, finding volunteers are actually difficult. There's a reason why a lot of candidates for Masters and PhDs don't finish their post graduate degrees. 

 

It will only feed bi-erasure depending how will the person interprets it and unfortunately, many people will take it out of context and use it to say ludicrous things like "bisexuality doesn't exist". But trust me when I first read the NY Times headline, it got me concerned and pissed but as I read through the thesis, it made me understand it and the potential ramifications.

I am not convinced by their conclusion that their machine learning algorithm is better than the human "gaydar" and I agree that their methodology is flawed but as a person who once worked as a research scientist (and I miss my old job), I think it is worth exploring but just like any discovery in science like Einstein's mass energy equivalence (e=mc²), it can be used for both good or bad that's why I get why some LGBT activists are voicing their concerns and it is indeed worrisome if this technology fell to the wrong hands like oppressive governments like Jamaica, Saudia Barbaria, Russia, North Korea, etc.

 

What we know about the potentials and risks for artificial intelligence, machine learning and neural networks is just at the tip of the iceberg and as disturbing as it sounds, artificial intelligence, machine learning and neural networks are solutions looking for problems as well as solutions making more problems.

 

But here's a technique I learned back in college on how to discern if someone is straight or gay: If a hot, good looking guy is passing by or talking to them, look into the eyes of the person you're suspecting is gay and chances are, they can't stop looking at the hot dude and a lot of times, gays have their eyes fixated on looking at the hot dude.

Damn with all this re-evaluation of priorities barring the sort of elephant of getting a diploma since I'm still pretty on track for completing the program I found by about mid next year.

I kinda get to re-evaluating things that I have been wanting to do in regards to my PC and where that fits into with what I want to do next year and that is a.) to meet Jake and b.) look at maybe moving closer and like what kind of jobs I can get and figure out what I would need in terms of living costs and try to leave a little bit of wiggle room for the wants.
