They need to get an Android app and support Chromecast.

EDIT: Turns out their player sucks. I started a video and paused it right away and came back like 20 minutes later and I got like 40 seconds in and it completely stopped loading. Had to refresh. It seems like they're using dash loading or whatever but it doesn't buffer fast enough on my 50mb connection. Once it stops to buffer it totally stops loading anything anymore and I have to refresh again and skip to where I was. Each time I can get a little further but it's pretty brutal. Oh yeah and this is in SD.

So I've been trying to watch a couple of videos for the last half an hour and maybe it's because Vessel's servers are overloaded right now but the experience has been terrible.

The interface is bulky and clunky; I have 4 videos open in chrome as well as the forum and it's almost using a ridiculous amount of memory. I can't middle click to open a video in a new tab and I can't double click to make a video full screen. The amount of screen real estate taken up on the home screen as well as "new releases" and "popular" pages is super inefficient to sort through. Account Settings are the most bare-bone I have seen in a long time. These complaints are on a high end desktop. I literally can't load more than one tab at a time on my low-medium performance laptop.

The bit rate looks even worse than Youtube and the HD content, despite looking like it is 720p, loads at a tenth of the speed I can load a 4k video on Youtube, and I have a 100 mbps fibre connection. I literally can not watch a video. Again, it could be that the servers are over loaded but still, a sub-par experience so far.

Overall, I feel like this is just segmenting my viewing. I still need to watch most of my content on Youtube however, I now need to visit Vessel of a minority of my content. This is exactly why I no longer watch TV; because I need to use a bunch of different services to get everything I want to watch. The transition seemed a little hasty, and the service Vessel offers needs a bit of work before it is up to that of Youtube which is really saying something. I'll try again tomorrow and see if my opinions have changed.

Can I not click on multiple video's with the middle mouse button to open them in a new tab?

Not sure! I'll forward this.

I will find more information, but I guess it's better just to ask for feedback on using Vessel services? It's the easier way to see who has problems and try to solve them as much as possible.

For example on my PC when I do try to access vessel via 4G network it looks mostly like this:

Capture.PNG

Interesting! I have forwarded this

I'll always support Linus Media Group, but having to pay to get early access is BS.

And I don't have a cc, so it's kind of hard after this year getting early access to content even if I wanted!

So then don't watch early access! There will still be a video every day on youtube!

I have no problem with your need to branch out to other platforms.

So far not a huge fan of vessel though. Though I probably will pay eventually if you still throw content there after a year, I'm put off by the fact that to sign up I had to subscribe to a certain number of channels to continue. What?

That's weird, are you sure there wasn't a skip button?

Question:

I registered when I first heard Linus n Luke mentioned Vessel during the WAN show sometime back. Do I have to register a new account to get the free access? :(

Not sure - I have forwarded this to them

Completely forgot.

I had issues with the first form as well, so I just clicked on the link to go to the other form and it worked fine.

Yeah unfortunately they are not being as agile about this as i'd like - thank you for using the other form :D

The biggest issue is that people go to YouTube to look for reviews for all sorts of things. If I want to know more about some random GPU or motherboard I'll go to YouTube. If LTT happens to have a video on said GPU or mobo I'll watch that. If LTT doesn't I'll search for another channel to see if they have one. I'm not going to wonder "hmmm, maybe they've uploaded it to Vessel but not yet on YouTube, lets check that out". It's too much of a hassle and a waste of time.

Besides, last time I heard you people were strongly against things like early access and pre-orders and whatnot, yet here you are doing exactly that.

Early access for a video game and early access for a video channel are very, very different.

We are still releasing videos every day on LTT - there will be no change in LTT's upload schedule

Why can't I watch your newest videos on Vessel?

It tells me I need early access to watch them.

Isn't the whole point of Vessel to access them earlier?

The problem is that you are changing your platform, to one that it ain't mature enough for your viewers, and it's paid.

If PORNHUB or REDTUBE started giving these deals you would start LinusSexTips.

And since you don't have any girls on your mediagroup, Brandon the Asian guy would be the "girl".

This must go to a linus video.

I haven't been on pornhub/redtube in a while...are they still doing re-ups of 240p, non-original content with large, obnoxious scrolling watermarks?

My main concern is the lack of adjustment and availability of different resolutions.
Also I don't know if it's just me but do the videos on Vessel seem washed out to anyone else?

The background of your channel is a big ass picture of your face with glasses on. Scary when you see someone's face that close.

The website(vessel) is so amateur it's not even funny. I've played ubisoft games that are better optimized than this. Every time I open it my CPU gets a workout and my fans start screaming. Also,

when I enter the wrong password it tells me my account doesn't exit rather than "wrong password". The average skill of software developers has been going down the drain lately but this is a new low.

Long time watcher first time poster (well second now I guess).

Firstly, I wouldnt pay for vessel and I probably wouldn't even give it a go if it wasnt for the 1 year free premium. I cant see myself using it very much but I will probably go there once a day to see what you guys have up. The reason being I usually watch YT from the couch or bedroom and both those places access YT through a console. When I'm at my computer I am usually gaming or watching twitch (which I can also do from a console). I do however watch just about every video put out by Linus Media Group as well as the live stream. There is just too much stuff these days that wants a subscription and sometimes it seems like money is going in a hundred directions. Even for a couple dollars a month I couldn't justify the price unless it was the only content I was watching.

I am a little bit torn on if I think this was a good idea or not but obviously you guys think its a good move so I really do hope it works out. It seems a little bit scary delaying content for YT and people may think there not getting the most upto date news/videos. Just make sure you keep a tight hold on YT incase Vessel goes south. Good luck, I look forward to more Linus media group content.

I only have one concern so far - and that's resolution.

On Youtube & Twitch, we can chose a resolution that is high for us - but good enough to not lag due to slower speeds. My issue is that youtuber's slider of 140p -> 4k is a lot nicer than Vessel's "HD AUTO  ON" button. I'd like to dictate my own resolution, Youtube is a much larger company and therefore I feel their services are better, at least on the consumer side. I find HD AUTO to be too blurry and HD ON to just take forever to load.

Unless these are improved, I'm going to stick to waiting the big longer and watching Youtube instead. Not very ideal for someone who likes to keep up-to-date with the latest LTT videos.

I also am not interested in paying $3 a month to watch LTT, While I want to support LTT however much I can, this will not be the way I plan to do it. Not everyone is buying an Office365, FiveFour and every other LTT-endorsed monthly service.

Not a deal breaker, but at least for the consumer side, It's not exactly a good start. I'd of rather LTT went for a larger service, like Vimeo for example.

I don't mean to hate on this or anything, I'm sure you have good reasons for moving to vessel.

I like this idea, but what is the aim of Vessel? Is its aim to allow viewers to get closer to their favourite content producers by giving them access to videos before they are released and giving them extra content or is it trying to be a complete YouTube replacement?

well linus i hope u can answer me this

youtube has a option to set quality and together with an autoHD extension in chrome i can set it to 480P

this is where vessel sucks i cant do that my internet is not stable at all so it will think it can do HD then it cant so it has to buffer and will keep trying to switch to HD

this makes vessel useless for me i cant use it
