Why? 800 watts is overkill.

I was thinking of the wattage required for dual 580's.

yeah a 650-750 should be fine.

Even then with 580s, 800 watts?

Make sure you test it in person.  Price seems a little too good...

Even then with 580s, 800 watts?

power_maximum.gif

takes 304 in furmark when you remove the nvidia furmark throttle. (furmark throttle makes furmark power consumption lower than ingame power consumption)

304+304 =608

+95 for typical cpu

+10 per HDD

+3 per SSD

+1-7 per fan (lets say 3 fans)

+10 per ODD

that's going to be 732 watts.

so yes 800 watts,minimum.

590 all the way, im not sure if you will need a larger PSU. Thats an older, power hungry card. Even though haswell doesn't require much, that card sure does.

Awesome deal, to me.

But then again, why exactly is that card being sold so cheap?

Something may not be right here...

Go for it.

The 590 is still a beast, and 150% is next to nothing for it, but only if you can test the sucka, of if you're buying it from a online shop or another kind of shop that gives warranty or a refund.

Good luck, I hope for the best!

keep in mind that the 590 is a 1.5GB card of eVram (is not 3GB card), i stay with the 7950 (with real 3GB of ram)

VRAM is not a measure how good a GPU performs and you know it :)

And 7950 isn't in the ballpark of 150$.

So yeah, I stay at my claim you're better off with a 590 for 150$, AS LONG AS IT'S WORKING PROPERLY

That card for that price is a huge steal. Make sure its working properly though cause that pricing is suspicious .

No, but it can become a huge factor in determining what card is best once video games become even more VRAM hungry. If he ever decides to do multiple displays, that VRAM will be eaten up faster.
