Wake on LAN with wifi card

Hello,

 I want to use my google home nest a lot more and I've just purchased a smart plug for it to ask it to turn on the power from the mains. I want to then ask it hey google "Turn on Computer" or something along those lines. I know for Wake on LAN you should just use an ethernet cable for it but I wonder if It's possible for my wifi card. It is a tp link ax3000 wifi card. Does anyone know if this will work, no worries if not.
