ok, so... i may have made a mistake while haphazardly swapping cpu's...

So for context, the computer was not starting up after I had swapped the cpu, Given that the outlet i had plugges it into did seem a bit dodgy, I plugged it into another socket, after which there was smoke and then i immediately unplugged it. Now my dad( who's computer this was) somehow didnt see the plume of white smoke and said that we should try taking it to another room, despite my insistence that its dead. Then, on his stubborn will to make it burn, he made me take it to my room and try it again, luckily I was smart enough to take the drive out, so we haven't lost any data. we plugges it it and tried again, and again there was smoke, as clear as day and in front of my dad's face but he still refused to believe it was dead and wanted to try it again, so this time thinking it would smoke again, and to show him, i decided to make a video. You

can see what happened here, in the attached gof which i have made from that said video(that's him turning it on after i refused to touch it).

NewProject.gif.24c3d14f3f195a47f9dfce9aad92ecca.gif

after that, i took it apart and found thisdedpd.thumb.jpg.b5457d87bdac615476e63910c82fea06.jpg

dead mobo power deliver part

dedsock.thumb.jpg.00f22e0d6a414e0071d8035003b5bb39.jpg

probably bent pins that caused this

dedsock.thumb.jpg.00f22e0d6a414e0071d8035003b5bb39.jpgcpuded.thumb.jpg.dacb447aad7f986120732459c9418ee4.jpg

and a tiny bulge on the backside of the cpu resembling those on the backsides of dead am5 cpu's during their recent spree of issues.

So currently, I assume the ram works, the cpu is dead and so is the motherboard,

I'm going to go out and buy a new mobo for sure, and perhaps a new cpu( probably yes as it looks like the bent pins are what shorted on the cpu, probably rendering it useless)

am i good to buy a new mobo and cpu, or should i try using the cpu?

any other parts i should be worried about?

Imagine everything i have written in a Linus Voice/ linus tone (Spock live long and prosper gif here ,idk why tho, i guess i just want to say that i like star trek and am waiting for new seasons of the ongoing shows), But seriously, a lot of what i type only makes sense when said in a Linus tone from an older ltt video (circa 2017-2019 & now 2024-onwards) basically before he got a beard and a lot of it should make sense even in a Linus with a beard face.

also note as per the latest typing test on my laptop, my accuracy is 69%

I'm not weird/creepy, I'm just observant I have ADHD and am not on any meds for it.

Budget for replacement parts?

Small tip just for upgradabilities sake don't get a dirt cheap board. Get something that can handle more than a 80w cpu before overheating it's vrm.

I think the issue was caused by the cpu not being seated properly and not the motherboard being bad, it was a gigabyte h610m, so it should have been a problem
