3D-printed USB flashdrive ideas?

780blzit

So I have this assignment to sketch and design a usb flashdrive that will, once my teacher accepts it, be 3D printed.

Once I've sketched it on paper I will make it in CAD and then print it.

It's not all about the looks of it, it has to be practical and useful.

Any ideas?  :D

As for the thumb drive design are going to stuff it with a functional PCB or is this just a model?

Jesus christ, a titan cooler would be enormous..

lol

I will not, it would be cool. But this is just a model, so no functional flashdrive. But, it will be modelled so that'll fit right into an usb thingy on your computer. :)

Hmm, should I split it so you kinda like have to take the top of or something in order to stick it in your computer?

Make it a literal thumbdrive.

The shell being a severed thumb, with the bloody end as the cap and protruding bone with a hole to be keylooped

That would be awesome but since I'm swedish, that would be really farfetched.. :(

I 3d printed a little housing for two usb flash drives not so long ago.

It doesn't have an awesome design but I like it and this seems like a suitable place to show it.

Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.1 Corinthians 13:4

Not very exciting, but I prefer a USB stick that's as close to a plain block as possible. I like minimalism to the point where details no longer exist.

It's a very tight fit but I also put some hotglue in.

Actually making a functional one will be easier. Just take apart a cheap one and hot glue in the pcb.

I cannot be held responsible for any bad advice given.

I've no idea why the world is afraid of 3D-printed guns when clearly 3D-printed crossbows would be more practical for now.

My rig: The StealthRay. Plans for a newer, better version of its mufflers are already being made.

Sooooooo, today I asked my teacher if I'm allowed to make it a functional USB and she said Yes. But she wasn't sure on how I would do it, so I'm back here to ask you guys.

If I want it to function, I would have to do 2 pieces and then glue it together? With the pcb inbetween?

You could try and print it in a way so it would clip together, which is pretty simple. But I don't know the material would be too brittle or not. I've never used a 3D printer before
