Worst Tech mistake you have ever made?

Mitch

Built my first PC December just gone, and I didn't know a thing about air flow.

b9AEmQE.png

So on the front, I had an intake fan, on the back I had an intake fan, and on the side panel I had an intake fan. And because of the position I had my CPU Cooler, there was no decent air flow to cool the CPU.

To make things worse, my PSU fans intake came from outside (underneath) the case, so heat couldn't even escape that way.

Needless to say, once I changed my back fan to be an exhaust, my temps dropped quite nicely!

Honestly getting my girlfriend to buy me a wireless mouse to carry around with my laptop, when I have a perfectly good Intuos4 that does the job perfectly.

Buying a Razer Blackwidow Ultimate 2013 keyboard for €140. That piece of garbage isn't even worth €20.

Selling it and buying a decent keyboard.

Probably disconnecting the CD drive when it was installing windows, it was on my first build. Otherwise I've been quite nice to my computers.

On my first computer that I built before I knew anything at all, I bought a WD green drive 1TB. I didnt know that the colors made any difference so I figured, well if i'm going to get one anyway, might as well get one that's good for the environment right? *commence cringe*

The dumbest thing I did to my PC was hot-plugging my GPU. I even saw a spark jumping(?) between the PCIe cable and the female connector...

But luckily it didn't harm any of the Components!

I did not take care of my laptop as I should have, and did not take the initiative to learn the information how to take care of my computer until evidence of the machine overheating occurred in 2012. I also forgot to remember the warranty, so due to not remembering the date the warranty expired, I could not receive assistance for my electronic device. Experiencing financial difficulties also does not help my situation.

Once I finally obtain a new desktop or laptop, I would not make the same mistakes I have done in my past and be appreciative of my items. I will be wary and continue to learn what is recommended to either upgrade or clean a computer. For people who can afford a new electronic such as a computer, please be grateful and appreciative of what you have.

A few weeks ago I somehow managed to delete the partition on my 4TB backup drive whilst trying to repair a faulty flash drive in diskpart. Have no clue how I managed to do it (probably sleep deprivation) and had to spend 2 days recovering files.
