Selling a delidded CPU on ebay

I was thinking about upgrading my 4670k to an i7 because of the amount of 3D work and rendering I do. I just found a used 4770k for €110, which is an insanely good price. I would want to sell my 4670k to get some of that money back, but the problem is that it is delidded and I won't be able to claim that it was "never overclocked". Do you guys think I would still be able to sell it for an acceptable price, or would I be losing a bunch of money? I've never seen anyone try to sell a modified CPU on ebay, so I'm not sure how this would turn out for me.

Any thoughts?

there's nothing my local PC shop loves more than ripping people off, so I'm guessing they won't be giving me the best price. Worth a try, though.

If someone is really into overclocking they would pay more for this chip than a standard one, especially if you give some proof of how high of an overclock you managed to achieve.  You can always try to put the HIS back on and glue it to the chip.

If you price it right, you'll find a buyer.

I got my i5 4670k delidded off of ebay. Risky af I know, but it ended up working, so worth. Low temps on a good CPU at a good price, I don't regret my purchase.

problem is its not a stellar overclocker and I merely delidded it to get better temps. It runs at 4.2GHz @ 1.3V, which frankly is terrible. If I can get €90 for it though, I'd be happy.

paste and epoxy back on the heat-spreader. and sell it as is.

as long as it works fine and doesn't die on the buyer then it will likely be a good purchase for someone.

A 4770K that hasn't been de-lidded I would be very nervous about but the fact that it has been de-lidded and OC'ed I'd walk away mate.

The 4770K is the CPU I'm buying, the delidded one is a 4670k. Anyways, I just saw a dead 4690k go for €100 on ebay so I guess I should be able to get some money out of it.

I won't be able to claim that it was "never overclocked".

Not sure what you mean. Every used k-CPU on ebay claims to have "never been overclocked", since mine is delidded its obvious that it has been.

I still remember the tray of 'barely used' Pentium 4s I bought off Ebay, turns out that someone had managed to do what was impossible for me and killed them.
