Apple Introduces 'Concierge' System. System that ranks your problem based on importance to get served first at the Genuis bar, appointment or not

GoodBytes

Apple is introducing in March 9, a new initiative names "Concierge", which an Apple staff will take log of your problem that you are facing on an iPad, and using an algorithm, will sort when you get to see an Apple "Genius" to get your problem fixed. If you have an appointment it could be extended for an unknown amount if more priority calls needs to be passed in front of yours, the Verge Reports.

As 9to5Mac puts it: "Apple Stores will operate essentially like restaurants that provide diners with pagers and wait times instead of holding empty tables while people are waiting."

Under the current system, customers are seen on a first-come, first-served basis, but this means appointments can be delayed without warning if individuals run over their allotted time. Using Concierge, customers will have their technical issues logged on an iPad, with the new algorithm sorting these by priority and issuing customers with an initial appointment time via text. Individuals can then leave the store if they want, with an automated text reminding them later when to head back for their appointment. A third text will then let them know exactly when their designated technician is free and where they're located in the store. The system is set to launch in the US in the week beginning March 9th, and will hopefully reduce both crowding and wait time in Apple's stores.

So this means, this is like a hospital kinda of like system, where you could potentially wait hours, and possibly (as the store aren't open 24h) asked to go back home and spend the next day at the Apple store for service, especially that you depend on the Apple staff in using the proper key terms for the algorithms to sort your priority. If your system if for example broken where it doesn't turn on. He or She might enter: "Need help in turning on the system", instead of "System is broken", and the result is that you are screwed, especially that, if you ever went to a Apple store, the "Genius" bar is always filled with people.

The one in my area at least are quick to fix things that they can in the store. If they are unable to, they'll send it to somewhere else within Apple to get whatever it is fixed.

I don't see how this is a bad thing. Apple is coming up with a way to be more efficient in handling issues. Lest we forget, Apple sells a lot, has the largest retail presence, and can't afford to fuck up the customer service side of their operations.

Customer service that makes every single company look like garbage. I swear, Apple consumer customer service makes some BUSINESS customer service from other companies look terrible. Thats a good thing for their consumers to have, I don't know why people want to crap all over it.

But, Goodbytes made a post about Apple so the types of comments are textbook in their predictability.

Yep. Sounds to me that they're not only selling a product, but also selling customer service.
