Glad to see someone who shares my thoughts. I am a proud owner of Gigabyte Windforce GTX 970 and I like it. I could return it, I could send an angry letter to NVIDIA, but I won't because it's still a great card.

The 970 will perform as benchmark suggest across 3.5GB, the remaining 0.5GB performs closer to system memory (which is what another card would use once it goes over what it has onboard) than the rest of the memory.

 

If I had a 970, I would not return it, but I would not buy one now, out of principle alone. Here in canada, the 290X can be found for significantly less anyway, and as you increase the load, performs better.

 

I do hope they get sued over this, not so that they pay, but for bad press, so it hurts their wallet, it's the only thing a big company like this cares about.

Normally you'd need to deal with the manufacturer (brand) of the card. The place you bought the card might be able to help you but my guess is that they'll just refer you to the manufacturer.

You obviously haven't been around here long enough.

 

I actually have had SLI 970s since I joined this forum and I just replaced them yesterday with a 290X. I'm no fanboy. Nice try though.

I also don't "order people" to get 290Xs over 970s, I merely suggest it because at this point in time if your PSU can handle it the 290X is better value.

 

If I'm immature then I can't even imagine a word for what you are.

Now imagine you were aware that the bucket could only hold 8 gallons. You knew it was advertised as a 10 gallon bucket but only held 8, for weeks.

Now remember that this wasn't known for a very long time and the 970 was bought, among other things, on the premise of having the full 4GB being at full speed, not the last 0.5GB being at a tenth of the speed

@iDeJayDzn Now I know that you are upset that the 970 is being shunned upon and I also think that shouldn't happen.

BUT,  there are other ways to defend the 970. Just, not like this.

My parody was aimed at the OP. He said he's 'still going to buy a 970' . So he has known for weeks and has decided to purchase. I've no problem with the 970 or the OP's choice to buy one. I think those who bought the card before this was known have been shat on a bit by Nvidia. But I also think the 970 is still the same card that was tested and benchmarked upon release and touted by most as the 'sweet spot' for those looking for performance versus price.

I almost bought a couple, still I'm even more glad now that I stumped up the extra for 980s.
