Do you have a backup?

I never see a parts list in the Build section with a backup drive, and no one ever mentions it.   The computers in my home are backed up.

Is yours?

I just picked up a 1tb HDD that I back up important files to, mostly images. For files I just use Younited, since its more secure than dropbox.

Unfortunately I only back up my files I something happens to make me think the pc will fail and I'll lose everything.

You're foolish if you don't have *anything*. Even just a restorepoint and an image of your completed system. External drives are cheap, there's cloud services, yadda, yadda, yadda. There's no reason not to have something.

No back-up at the moment. Still trying figure out my FreeNAS at VMware. Once successful I'll make a build for a NAS (If budget permits).

yes. Everything gets backed up to a separate harddrive in my pc. If my RAID0 fails, I'm safe. If the PSU decides to blow and take everything with it, or the pc gets stolen, not so much.

I cannot be held responsible for any bad advice given.

I've no idea why the world is afraid of 3D-printed guns when clearly 3D-printed crossbows would be more practical for now.

If I back up files, it's typically not the whole system, but rather important things like documents, photos, application data and mods.

I back up almost nothing, partially because I don't have much space to back files up with.

I do for my Macbook Air, not for my rig though, I don't really need one as my source code and other important stuff is stored online somewhere (except for a load of old photos which I'll be copying to my backup drive soon).

I have an external 3TB WD My Book USB 3.0 dedicated to backup, so in the worst case scenario, I can pick up the drive and run. (fire?)

I backup my OS drive twice a week while backing up my other drives once or twice a month.

Also set to erase backups older than 2 months.

That said, I just looked at Acronis and it seems like it stopped working at the end of december.. meaning nothing was backed up in January... gotta fix that ASAP.

I try and backup my pc at least once a month. I do a system snapshot/image so if my ssd fails or I scew up windows I can just boot my usb pen drive and restore my PC.
I also do a file sync/backup off my data (which is on my second HDD) too. these are stored no my external 3tb hdd, which i'm looking to replace with a nas soon :)
I don't worry about backing up my games (which again are on there own hdd) as i can always download/reinstall them :)
