Will there be a single slot 980?

I am thinking about installing watercooling in my case and would like a thunderbolt card inbetween, Will there be a single slot 980?

Current Rig:   CPU: AMD 1950X @4Ghz. Cooler: Enermax Liqtech TR4 360. Motherboard:Asus Zenith Extreme. RAM: 8GB Crucial DDR4 3666. GPU: Reference GTX 970  SSD: 250GB Samsung 970 EVO.  HDD: Seagate Barracuda 7200.14 2TB. Case: Phanteks Enthoo Pro. PSU: Corsair RM1000X. OS: Windows 10 Pro UEFI mode  (installed on SSD)

Peripherals:  Display: Acer XB272 1080p 240Hz G Sync Keyboard: Corsair K95 RGB Brown Mouse: Logitech G502 RGB Headhet: Roccat XTD 5.1 analogue

Daily Devices:Sony Xperia XZ1 Compact and 128GB iPad Pro

K|NGP|N 980 will have a Single slot bracket shipped in the box with it with the dual slot preinstalled for when you want to do water cooling.

I doubt it, I dont think any 80 card had a 1 slot variant.

I think there are ways to mod a dual slot into 1, but you have to give up the outputs that are on the upper side

I can't see that ever happening.  While the 980 does have awesome TDP, it's not nearly low enough for a single-slot card.

There are no rumors pointing towards one, and if you want a single slot powerhouse there's this one, it even comes with a waterblock: http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/visiontek-cryovenom-r9-295x2,3951.ht-ml

apparently the kingpin will let you turn it into a 1-slot card, but it's still slow for the price compared to the 295x2 above, especially when you factor in the extra cost of the waterblock.

Yes, the 980 kingpin from EVGA will have a single slot option when watercooled.

The GTX 580 Hydro Copper from EVGA was single slot, but it was just a 580 with EVGA's waterblock slapped on it.

EVGA 980 Kingpin has the ability to be single slot with the included bracket.  I expect it to be around 700+
