What Tablet to buy? Help please

Guest Sc0TT3Y

I'm in the market for for a tablet to use around the house, watching movies and browsing the web. Sometimes using my gaming rig just gets annoying to just as it restricts me to one room. I don't want to play much money (Under $500 would be ideal) and I won't be playing any games on it. Anybody got any suggestions? Plus it has to be available in Australia as that is where I live.

Thanks a ton in advance

Cheers

For basic web browsing and media consumption the galaxy tab s as suggested earlier would work really well. It has a beautiful screen and the processing power to play HD content on it. Amoled screens have ultimate contrast and save battery life.

I would still take a good look at the Nvida shield if I were you. It is a gaming tablet but it's pretty cool. I'd also trus them to support their device longer than any other big player besides apple.

If you don't need the screen to be the absolute best you could probably save some money by getting the ipad mini. Apple also continues update support for 2 generations usually which is better than most.

to wrap it up, for the best viewing experience get the galaxy, but If you're more interested in a lower price and a device that will continue to get update support for longer get the ipad mini. Reguardless you should take a look at the shield, especially if you have nvidia graphics in your PC.

Edit: You probably wont find a full windows 8.1 tablet for less than $500 but if you're okay with windows RT I'd go with this.

You better still look at that shield tablet though >.>!

EDIT 2: Package forwarding, it's not free though.

Thanks, Not too sure if the shield is available down here but I will look into it, Streaming games from my pc would be an added bonus

Lenovo tabs are nice

I'll personally recommend shield tablet and Asus transformer t100

Shield tablet has very good features u will probably use

“It would seem that Our Lord finds our desires not too strong, but too weak. We are half-hearted creatures, fooling about with drink and sex and ambition when infinite joy is offered us, like an ignorant child who wants to go on making mud pies in a slum because he cannot imagine what is meant by the offer of a holiday at the sea. We are far too easily pleased.”

Wait, what? Every full Windows 8.1 tablet on Microsoft's website is under $500, except the Surface Pro 3.

The Lenovo Yoga Tablet 2 looks cool, they make a version with Windows 8.1. (The only Windows RT tablets are the Surface 2 and Lumia 2520, DO NOT BUY EITHER.)
