WASD versus ducky quality?

So after searching through hundreds of sites, and emailing 8 different stores and one distributor

i am nearly about to cave in and give up on my venture of trying to acquire a ducky premier keyboard..

That is unless anyone here has some incredibly helpful advice or source?

I am contemplating if i should soon consider another option, i thought i might buy this guy:

http://www.wasdkeyboards.com/index.php/products/mechanical-keyboard/wasd-v2-104-key-barebones-mechanical-keyboard.html

The barebones keyboard from WASD. Then buy some PBT key caps separately on the side + a

Wrist rest, my question is how the frame and overall quality of the WASD keyboard would compare

to the ducky premier? or just how solid WASD keyboards are in general.

And how would i be certain that the PBT caps i purchase would fit? except just buying PBT caps for

a 104 key layout, i have seen people having problems with differently sized spacebars for example.

I'm actually looking for a new keyboard myself. Following thread in hopes I can find nice recommendations.

Cherry mx green all the way :D, i'm a pretty heavy typer, hehe.

I don't like the feeling of the browns to be honest, it's rather irregular..

the resistance of the green makes it so that i don't really feel the

plastic bump scratching inside the switch.

I don't know much, but I'd say ducky, they only make a few models and should allow them to specialise in those models. Ducky is regarded for quality, then again I haven't had much to do with wasd

@tobben @MyInnerFred

Both WASD and Ducky are very good in terms of quality and simple how the build feels, you cannot really go wrong with either but I would give a slight edge to ducky (Tried them both, liked the ducky more). Honestly if I was forced to pick one I would go with the Premier from Ducky but picking the cheaper option is probably the best option since they are close in quality anyway

You have a choice..

I just got my codeV2 green switch mx from massdrop in the UK :)

Although the ducky shine 4 with greens is also out over here.

You can't go wrong with either, but my code v2 does not have that "gaming" sorta look, just nice and clean looking.

What I will say is that you also get a nice wrist rest with the eventual keyboard..it works wonders

I will pay all the money i can give if you can point me to a place that is

selling the ducky premiere :P, i would definitely get the premiere if i could

but it's looking pretty bleak...

I have located A SINGLE keyboard in a lonely warehouse in sweden, but

sadly i cannot get to it.. Was going to ask a guy in Finland to buy one for

me, but they didn't have it after all.. so yeah.. they have -8 premier keyboards..

And ducky isn't making them anymore, as confirmed by ducky.

Yeah, definitely getting a wrist rest, that is the only advantage with the

WASD keyboard, the attachable/detachable wrist rest.

As far as i am aware ducky comes out with new models all the time,

and only makes them for a limited amount of time before they stop.

Those bastards... not very impressed with that scheme to say the least.

so specify what you @Archangel1994 said earlier. I would assume there has to be some

discrepancy for you to feel a noticeable difference, preferring one even moreso.

Is it pretty much negligible or is it very noticeable? i guess since the ducky is proving

to not be much of an option. The question is more centered around the overall quality

of the WASD keyboard, if it's practically on par with ducky it should be very solid?

It was tiny but it felt like the ducky was a bit more robust and higher quality. Also the reason I would prefer ducky is because they are a bit more well-established and after dealing with their customer service once (I'm the RMA-slut of my friend circle :D) I was very satisfied. Didn't have to deal with WASD just yet.

The quality is very similar I would say and there will be no harm in going WASD at all, a lot of people use WASD and are very positive about them even when comparing to Ducky/Das/Filco. Practically I would say on par with ducky and it should indeed be a very solid choice

Both are a safe bet. Find people's reviews about customer service in case something does go wrong with your keyboard and you will have a less painful experience.

Ok guys, thanks for the replies.

Since easyzone isn't replying to me. And the sweden seller

has decided to make my life a living hell by refusing to ship

outside of Sweden. But mostly due to a recent discovery i

was amazingly lucky enough to stumble upon, i have decided

on a alternative solution.

An alternative to the initial alternative that is... *Sigh*

I will be posting a picture of my self proclaimed "mucky" when

everything arrives :P

I have never owned a WASD but I have had 2 Duckys and the quality of both of them is amazing and way better than my Razer & Logitech Boards. The Duckys just feel really solid and high quality. The two Duckys I have are a Shine 2 and Zero. Both amazing.

I have a ducky, but I'm selling it atm. I never tried cherry stabilizers, but I despise them so much. They feel rough to me and not smooth at all. I think WASD uses costar, so imo I would get WASD and get PBT keycaps.

Also depends if you wants lights, I don't like/need lights so it wasnt a deal breaker for me.

I think in itself, the fact that i spent 8 days straight doing practically

nothing but searching gives the keyboard some sentimental value,

it is the result of all that wasted time :P

Remember to tell me what you end up with and what you think of it ;)

i could link you the keycaps if you want, but they ain't cheap. Although

not very expensive relative to other thick PBT dye-sub keycaps in spite

of the "exclusiveness".

(That anomaly of an esc button in the right corner will be replaced, i just

wanted to see how it would fit, and it was terrible.)

ps: i am never happy with anything, i always look for improvements and

never settle for something as it is, whether i take action on those thoughts

or not is a different matter, heh.

Maybe it's that time of year, time for some grease/lube. The cherry mx

stabilizer certainly gives different resistance, costar is more neutral.

But the cherry stabilizer should be smooth if nothing else.

And yes, WASD use costar, atleast on the model i got. But i like the frame

on the ducky premier ALOT more, it looks so smooth and nice compared

to the edgy and sharp WASD frame. And the top/bottom plastic casts, the

plastic shell of the case really doesn't make good contact and it makes it

look/feel pretty cheap.
