Any good games to use a joystick for.

kuddlesworth9419

I just got my joystick delivered today and I really like it so far. I am just getting used to the controls of War Thunder all over again with it which is proving quite difficult but I can feel progression which is really nice. But does anyone know of any good games that use a joystick and are actually good games. Other then Elite dangerous and Star Citizen because I am getting Elite.

I heard Arma 3 plays very well with a joystick (the flying at least).

I suppose BattleField 3 and 4 could work with it too.

Maybe some old platformers (I remember playing Power Rangers waaay back in the day with a joystick)

I am actually 50% the way through downloading Arma 3 again. I played a lot of it while it was in Alpha, Beta and the final version but I got bored with the highly fragmented player base and generally quite boring because I had no one to play with. I have no friends but that comes with the job.

Hawx 2 is a fun game although ive never used a joystick. What about some flight sims like xplane 10 and microsoft flight sim? there is some awesome mods for those games which make them alot of fun.

I would say DCS World (Digital Combat Sim) by Eagle Dynamics - http://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/world/

The game is absolutely incredible.  It's a simulation and not arcade, so the learning curve is steep.

Joysticks can be misinterpreted as fight sticks, used for games like Skullgirls or Street Fighter.  Flight sticks are used commonly for flight simulations.

I know the main part of the game is free and you download all the modules and everything that you need to pay for but does the free download thing come with any aircraft and online components that I can actually play with without needing to give the devs my arms and legs.

It's a flight stick then.

In that case, DCS World with Flaming Cliffs 3, X-Plane 10 Global (world's only simulator that actually simulates actual fluid physics), Battlefield 4.

DCS World includes a FREE Su-25T "Frogfoot" and non-armed TF-51D Mustang aircrafts.

There was a special running over the Christmas season where all add-ons were -75%

If you do give it a shot and get more into it, I'd suggest expanding to the Flaming Cliffs 3 module first (includes Mig-29A & 29S, SU-27 & SU-33, F-15C, A-10A, SU-25)

I am gonna start downloading it as soon as Arma 3 finishes. I hope I like it. I don't have much spare time because of work but at the moment I have a week and a bit off once a year which is a nice long break. I will play it non-stop until then.

I actually use my Joystick when piloting planes in BF1942 & BF2 (haven't done much in BF3 & 4 due to the BS required to play online-and BF4 refusing to start-so I don't know if you can actually fly jets).

I haven't really played any games with focus on flight, but Battlefield 1942 is always fun with the planes.

Wings of Prey

IL2 1946

IL2 Cliffs of dover (requires some fan made patches you can find in steam discussions)
IL2 Battle for Stalingrad.

Elite Dangerous (I havent played but it looks awesome)
Take On Helicopters

Take On Mars (dunno if a stick works but its on the ARMA engine so I imagine it will)

Kerbal Space Program? (also dunno if a stick works but the game itself is very worth it)

Note I haven't tried these im eagerly awaiting my HOTAS A10 Warthog stick to arrive...hopefully today.

How about some Ace Combat Assault Horizon?

It's an arcade 'flight sim' with fast paced combat... (might as well call it call of duty in the sky)

Too bad they don't have the levels with cramped spaces like they did on Ace Combat 2 (PS1) and Ace Combat 3 (JP, PS1)...
