and these are not kids, atleast i personally dont think so. these people are buying botnets. and that costa alot more money than any kid will have. only way kids could afford this is to actually hack and get cc numbers and buy botnets with stolen ccs which seems possible wether they are kids or adults. These "people" are not dumb they have not been caught before and havent been cought now.  so they will continue till they get caught because they feel invanurable. it does not seem sony or microsoft is getting the fbi, cia, or nsa have got them included to protect them but after this attack i can see them watching those 2 companies closley and watching out for lizard squad after what they have said on twitter.

And what could the FBI or NSA do (CIA can't operate inside the US Territory) to prevent a DDoS attack? Do you want those two agencies filtering all traffic to the servers to make sure it is legitimate (and skimming some "anti-terrorist" information off the top while they're at it)?

absolutley nothing. no one can stop a ddos. a dos attack is easy because it is a large amount of traffic from one ip. attack stopped. ddos it over multiple ip''s and dns servers. they will be watching these access points more than ever. mainly because microsoft is an american company while sony is japanese.

no i dont that wont help. if they have white lists the ddosers could spoof a white list ip and access still so no matter wht they do wont help. you can never stop ddosers. do you want fbi cia nsa watchig traffic and than going after these people. because i do.  which is imo what these companies should be for. not spying on phone calls or anything but if a company gets hacked they should watch the company and catch those people. lizard squad has a massive bot net so its hard to shut down there original ip's how. how long till they shut down steam ? they seem to have issues with every company.

Well, they did find a 0-day exploit on Tor, and got hundreds of nodes from that. Still not skilled?

I was pretty shocked when I found out about the Tor nodes getting smacked; I knew Tor wasn't reliable, but damn!

this was actually quite interesting. they are just pushing the limits of a hobby by the sounds of it.

Just listen to the radio 2 interview, one of the two hackers interviewed is obviously educated, articulate and very skilled at what he does. He even says in the interview he works in the security industry and he points out that the large majority of workers in his industry start out as hackers, as he says "its vital to know how it works so you can work to stop it".
