New York premiere of Sony’s “The Interview” canceled!

AlRayes_BRN

At this point, the hackers practically own Sony.

Joke's on them. Sony is in immense debt.

I see your not a troll, but lurking for over a year? And conveniently just recently Helping semi retires, askew leaves and cokeman left awhile ago and well if you are truly a lurker you must know how sarcasm went out. and theres you new username.... coincidental?

I think not! Through the power of mad science and magic they have fused into one being.

Anyone want to fund a movie where the plot is to assassinate the leader of GoP. Oh the fun someone could have with this.

How mad would they be if you portrayed the leader as some nerd who slurs his words and then does a load of drugs meanwhile living in his moms basement. All we have to do is just dump it on reddit and watch it take off.

THE HACKENING

The Internet response to GoP.

The SONYGATE!...

I'm surprised the mighty US of A cannot use their orbital <insert device no one has ever seen before> to track them down faster.

On a serious note, GOP probably has has much more stolen data and Sony is shitting themselves after the Angelina Jolie and Obama related mails leaked.

The best thing that Sony could do at this point is to just accidentally upload the movie to Youtube or to "leak" it to a major torrent site. Once it's out there, the GoP can't do anything about it and they can't go after every downloader or seeder.

The CIA and FBI have been working on a specialist tool just for this,  it's called the ZX-11 asshole tracking device, unfortunately they haven't been able to test it's directionality yet because the proximity of the president (being in the same country) keeps setting it off.

EDIT: of course it could also be comcast/timewarner or any number of ceo's too

Aaah, forgot about this one. But they should be able to re-calibrate and narrow down the asshole detection spectrum to threat-to-America, oh wait, it wouldn't help much.

but what else they can do?

Theatre owners in New York (where 9/11 happened) are cancelling the movie, as it is just of the movie they can show among the others, so they have profit, and why would they put themselves into the risk of an terrorism attack.

Secondly Sony cannot really do anything. Does nothing, movie goes out, terrorist attacks happens, Sony to blame. They are not giving it out, no terrorist attack happens, they are blamed for being weak. They will lose anyway for the hackers.

I am sure they will not make a national terror act, these are only threat. or if they do, it will be at one place only, especially you can expect higher rate of police at the theaters

Sony doesn't know exactly what information, emails, etc were stolen. Who knows what nasty, under-the-table deals or other personal embarrassing things are going to the public. Whether you are an high level in management or just a little guy in Sony, you don't want those sensitive information being published for everyone to see. I think Sony is under huge pressure both from within and outside of the company.

All this does is open the door to everyone that doesn't like a move to do something similar... throw out some threats and the movie doesn't get released... I'll tell you right now, this movie will not be the last. This is only going to happen more often. Sony won't improve the security much as we've seen since the last hack... and other studio's won't think "this could happen to us as well, let's improve our security". So if another studio makes a movie these people don't like.. they'll get hacked and the same thing will happen....

If these people want to commit a terrorist act... this won't stop them. They'll do it anyway, they'll just think of some other stupid excuse that doesn't make any sense what so ever...

Just a little clarification, it's not Sony that is pulling the movie, it's theaters.

Very bad news indeed. Sony just can't catch a break.

If only GoP would do something that actually benefited more people than crazy North Korea, like releasing the source code for the PS4.

Listen guys, at this point i am sure of 2 things

1) There are 2 groups at work here, the original #GOP hackers responsible for hacking Sony then another group of douchbags who are riding #GOPs wave and using it to manipulate Sony into doing what they want. Its likely NK had nothing to do with the attack but after they were reported as being responsible for it they thought, fuck it, lets make some demands about the interview and see if Sony back down or not. Sony have.

2) Any actions taken by Sony over The Interview are now being orchestrated by the FBI/CIA/MIB. I mean c'mon, someone threatened to blow shit up, you think the government aren't taking this into account, using their spies to gather intel and forcing Sonys hand here. These dbags threatened another 9/11, i guarantee some government agency is taking it seriously.

I was actually looking forward to this movie. It would have been the only non-sequel in my theater this year. In the end, I am sure that the publicity this movie is getting will drive curiosity to see it, and it will end up doing extremely well.

I hope our theatres don't pull it. Was hoping for some Christmas afternoon hilarity.

I'm also surprised that now its escalated into full on terrorism, we haven't heard from either the FBI or CIA. I'm not just throwing those names out, threats of this level are very serious and it generally warrants a serious response and contrary to popular belief, hiding behind 7 proxies usually isn't enough to save you when you utter terrorist threats against US soil.

On one side I also feel sorry for Sony employees :(

On the other side, Im amazed how such a massive company can be threatened and "dictated" by small (compared to size of sony) group of hackers.

Why would theaters do that? They're not being attacked...

but we are talking about theaters in New York. And they mentioned 9/11 that happened there

They had 2 options: potentially risk people's life and the theatre or do not show the movie and lose some revenue, as they are showing many movies through the year

i think it is an obvious decision

ok, i work in a movie theater, i honestly want them to release it, i don't care about the threats because they can't possibly be guarding the piece if they're killing people, i think it's all talk.
