Why doesn't Linus Fold?

When everyone goes home at night at LMG why don't they put their ridiculous hardware to use and fold, they could all hit #1 within a week with all of those Titans. Just a thought.

Edzels rig would be crazy for folding. <3

because running  5 pc on one loop when no one is there i dont think is a very good idea

Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.1 Corinthians 13:4

There's a fairly high chance that they do. No reason not to get footage that's done rendered out, if everything else for it is ready. Edzel's rendering pretty much all day if I'm not mistaken, though.

On a work machine honestly it's not something I'd recommend. It's been a while since I've tinkered with folding, but last time I was playing with it, it did cause interruptions and slowdowns, which is something that we cannot afford as a business.

I've been blessed by the LMG gods, he responded!

I read the last 2 words as: He respawned!

My automatic reaction: where is it! So we can kill it and get the achievement!

Anyway seems rather unsafe to have their system unsupervised while folding, the heat those machines generate(not to forget the power bill that would come with it) ^_^

LMG should have a dedicated folding machine, chugging along happily alongside its workstation bretheren. Ive always thought it would be cool for Linus to accept maybe donations of GPU's and whatnot on the condition they would be set as dedicated folding machines in the office.  It might be a good way to promote F@H, thoughts? c:

Would be an interesting idea as a project. Maybe make a video on FAH and\or BOINC so other people might chip in to the cause.

On a work machine honestly it's not something I'd recommend. It's been a while since I've tinkered with folding, but last time I was playing with it, it did cause interruptions and slowdowns, which is something that we cannot afford as a business.

Linus

have you thought about getting a solar grid tie system? i'd think that all those rigs running can use a lot of power.

Would be an interesting idea as a project. Maybe make a video on FAH and\or BOINC so other people might chip in to the cause.

the intensity will vary with the wu. But didn't you guys have a dual gpu setup

on each machine? you could fold on atleast 1 gpu while using the pc.

Regardless it should be doable to setup folding so that it doesn't interfere

with regular usage atleast. Like handling text files, browsing, watching videos

etc.. rendering, gaming etc.. is obviously a no-go :P.

if not gpu folding, maybe abit of cpu folding? which is more flexible

and less interfering.
