I decided to create a thread for people to discuss games that they truly believed failed.

 

My pick would be Elder Scrolls Online. I dont think anyone plays it anymore. I beta tested it, and it sucked. At a price of 60 dollars+10 dollars a month, it wasnt very appealing either.

ESO's worth is subjective. I personally have more fun in ESO than I do in WoW. I just wish more people would play the game because it's not as bad as everyone is saying it is.

It had a lot of kinks in the Beta version and a majority of them were worked out.

So stop riding the hate train.

I'm playing ESO right now and i'm enjoying it^^ It's not a traditional elderscrolls game. But i think it's good for what it is.

The only game i can think of that really failed is Guise of the wolf. But that was because it was an unpolished turd and the studio made some idiotic choices

What did you dislike about it? I thought it was pretty good. It was a different approach compared to FC 2, but it was not a bad game. FC 3 Blood Dragon was also probably my favorite title in the series (I've only played 4, but still). Dont know why, but there is something I love about retro future shooters

It just had too much of an emphasis on crafting stuff, and I thought the world was too big

Seriously, that flopped so hard. I feel bad for all those people who made custom cases and builds for it in time for release, only for it to fall flat

Yeah, the crafting was meh. I feel like in the beginning it was actually really fun. You had to strive to craft belts and what not. After a while, it just became a nuisance really.

ye, at the moment I'm currently in love with Tomb Raider. It has every element you would want, but they are all mixed in pretty well.

Tomb Raider is in my Top 5 video game series' ever. Love them to bits

Are we talking about failing financially in sales or in how quality the game is? If it's the latter, I would say DayZ. I love DayZ, and I'll still play it constantly because the idea of the game is incredible, but it seems like the devs made their big buck and decided to give up on it. Such a shame, it had such amazing potential. Still does I guess, depending on how you look at it.

You think? I guess it depends on the platform. It's by far the best fps on the Xbox One right now, as I really enjoyed it on the XB1, it just lacks content. I can only imagine it didn't do well on PC because the only big time fps games worth playing on PC are the Counter Strikes.

I remember being SUPER excited when I recieved my beta invite, but was turned away by how the game was put together. There was something about it. Its ok though, I still get my health Skyrim dose of 5 hours a day.

 

Do people still play ESO? What is it like now?

There are still a noticable amount of people playing (800.000 according to the internet)

But the main reason that i like it is that it kind of feels like vanilla wow. People are standing in town asking for help in dungeons^^ 

And they actually delivered on the dynamic combat. (One guy throws oil on the ground and another sets fire to it) 

It doesn't replace any of the single player elder scrolls gamesl. But it's a nice way to experience some second era lore

I'm a bit miffed about them not using the usual sheogorath voice actor though. 

 

Another reason for me liking it is that there aren't those dumb gear restrictions that are in most of the other mmos.

I love being a heavy armor wearing, Bow wielding, Spellcasting dunmer badass

i don't know what you consider flopped because the game was far from a flop, it was fun and i got my 60$ worth of it even though it was for just a month, the main problem was lack of content, only having 10/15 primaries gets boring fast, even though all played very different, and its not like you can't play it, last time i checked there was around 2000 players on the east coast server

 

also what's wrong with making mods about it? if people liked it, it think that's ok

 

as for a game i think that failed, for new ones, the crew, really looking forward to that one, but the AI is shit, its more of an annoyance, and for a MMO, you can't do shit with other people other that PvP which is disappointing, even though with the big ass world it has races seems to be very similar, wouldn't be surprised if they shut down the servers by the end of next year, i consider that a flop
