Heatpipe tower cooler with horizontal motherboard?

Gdourado

Hello how are you?

Due to the specific way in which heatpipe coolers work, are there any issues on running a CPU tower cooler on a case that has the motherboard horizontal?

Cheers!

There shouldn't any performance issues, I tired many orientation with my DRP3 and no performance difference. Depends on the air flow of case.

Don't worry. Its going to work just fine ;)

The heat in this case doesn't rise. It goes through the heatpipes, eventually dissipated to the fins and then removed by the fan.

Saw this:

http://www.hardwaresecrets.com/printpage/Which-is-The-Best-Position-for-a-Tower-CPU-Cooler/1815

On this test there was a 2º difference.

It is not meaningful i guess.

Cheers!

I have been quoting same article but their tests aren't really covering what current fashion is. I mean who honestly uses ATX case on its side anymore? On my own tests having single tower cooler (U14S) mounted horizontally instead of vertical mounting made about 3C difference for better. Having single fan as pull or push didn't matter at all.

No, if anything it'll work even better (assuming the heatsink points up and not down)

I cannot be held responsible for any bad advice given.

I've no idea why the world is afraid of 3D-printed guns when clearly 3D-printed crossbows would be more practical for now.

My rig: The StealthRay. Plans for a newer, better version of its mufflers are already being made.
