Posted November 4, 2014 Author Just bought a power supply. I wonder if it will power the GTX 480? *snigger* Thing is, a decent 650w psu was £65. This thing just cost me... No no, wait for it..... £69. LOLably it's better than what I am running my SLI Titan Black on, so a switch out could be on the cards. Ed. It's the 1250w Revolution. Area 51 2014. Intel 5820k@ 4.4ghz. Posted November 5, 2014 Author Afternoon guys. Well my lady just came into a little bit of money so sent me some money to just buy little things with. We spoke about it, and she acknowledges how much I enjoy building custom rigs and how good it is for my mental health, so gave me the go ahead to buy whatever I like. Here is what I like lol. £47 they are now, have dropped a tenner. A board.. Check this out. Yum yum. And some ram. I didn't want 2133mhz ram but this was orange and only £15 more than the other stuff. And a cooler, so overclocking should definitely be in. Total cost was £210. Can't really argue at that tbh. Posted November 5, 2014 Author OK so you guys should remember what the 480 Lightning looked like at the last check. It's all in black and white. Well thankfully the white is simply primer, so it's literally ready to meet the orange. I was going to take the fans all apart again and paint them, then I remembered these. So I just ordered a few. They'll go on 'as is' and save me taking them apart to paint them. Area 51 2014. Intel 5820k@ 4.4ghz. MSI X99.16gb Quad channel ram. AMD Fury X.Asus RAIDR.OCZ ARC 480gb SSD. Posted November 5, 2014 Author OK so I finally cracked and bought a plotter. So expect lots of custom graphics on this one. So more materials. First up, some of this. Two A3 sheets of coloured acrylic. Being a small project I doubt I would need any more. And then. And of course, the plotter itself. Area 51 2014. Intel 5820k@ 4.4ghz. MSI X99.16gb Quad channel ram. Posted November 6, 2014 Author OK PSU got. Very large, very heavy unit. Nice though. And the ram. What I was expecting. What I actually got. I'm not sure whether I am happy or annoyed. I like the look of it stock better than the stuff I actually wanted but the options for cutting graphics and having a place to stick them are far more limited Still, ever onward and upwards. Posted November 6, 2014 Author OK, cabling. So the PSU has a 24 pin built into it, as well as a couple of GPU runs and the EPS. The rest is modular. Now I don't want to commit myself to it being yellow and orange in case I ever decide to switch it out. So, what I've done is this.Bought a 4 pin extension (board is 4 pin) And a 24 pin extension. For a total of £3.50. This means that I can braid through acrylic (like I did with X8) and the PSU still be removable and that if I want I can simply remove the modular cables I braid and the PSU will remain stock (very important on a £250 PSU) Area 51 2014.
