Audio Technica ATH-M50 vs M 40x

Flodian
Go to solution Solved by Shalashaska,

Then from a comfort stand point would the 40x be better?

The same, but the M50 pads go hard after about a year.

The M40X is a sound choice, you're not missing much by choosing that.

These 2 headphones are about the same in price in my area, which would be a better buy?

If they're about the same price then definitely M50.

M50 if the price is the same, just be aware that the earpads turn into rocks in a year and the cable isn't removable, the M40X sound very simlar and are free from those 2 issues despite the earpads on the M40X still being uncomfortable.

ATH MXXX headphones sound really nice, they just have comfort issues with the stock pads.

m40x has a removable cable, they sound virtually identical, tiny bit less bass on the m40x.
