Am i the only one why thinks 1 monitor is better than 3 for gaming

Noble372

I swear whenever i tell someone about my monitor or my setup they say to me you need 3 monitors.

I spent £400/$636 on one monitor. People always tell me epically my friend you should have just got 3 24 inch monitors for that price. I could have done as well and run most games at 60fps. But to me it seems as pointless as when you are playing a game you are mainly looking at the screen in front of you and not looking left and right every 2 seconds. Also most people just use the other two to have facebook open. To me personally i think the bar separating the monitors really takes away any immersion.

I am gald now though as the monitor i brought there is a reason it cost £400

Amazing viewing angles you can move the screen any way you would like

Great colours they really do pop

27inch is a really nice screen size

s witch

Anti-ghosting

144hz

Plus in run most of my games at 144fps on max settings

So what i am saying is would you rather have one amazing monitor or three decent monitors for gaming.

Also people do not seem as impressed when you have one amazing monitor compared to 3 decent monitors or even shity old monitors.

If i had the money i would get 3 amazing monitors but it seems people would rather have 3 shity or okay monitors these days than one amazing monitor. For the money.

I prefer 3 monitors for productivity. Only 1 for gaming. And they have to be matching monitors.

You see most people on youtube with 3 monitors all un matching it looks so horrible. Three matching looks a lot better.

might be better for immersion, but it definitely doesn't help for competitive play in my mind. I prefer to use 1 monitor for gaming and 3 for productivity. It's really down to personal opinion though.

I also prefer 1 monitor but with wide screen because I don't like bezels. 48:9 1080p or 1440p monitor would be dream come true.

One monitor for gaming, a second one for prouctivity/facebook/youtube etc. That's enough for me. If I want a wider screen then I'll get a 21:9 but 48:9 also seems pointless to me

What if that 48:9 was fully customizable? Running 32:9 in center for games and left 8:9 portrait mode on the sides for browser, another applications.

productivity is a lot easier with more monitors, i only use one for gaming, normally one for a video and then the last for chat. While production, one is for a document, one is for a video or music, other is for webpage, sometimes two are webpages.

Racing and non-competitive (read single player) FPS looks really awesome on three monitor setups IMO.

But I don't have the physical space or money to own three decent monitors so I'm happy with one, even though I'd love to have two monitors so I can game while looking at something else.

Lol that is me with 3 miss matched monitors. I use my 27 inch 1440p monitor for gaming, photo and video editing and other work, mu 19 inch 1080i mostly for watching tv and youtube on and my 24 1080p monitor mostly for general web browsing. Eventually i want 3 1440p 27 inch monitor and about a 40 inch tv hung on the wall above my computer lol

Yeah mine is only a 60hz ips. Colors are brilliant on it. I really only game single player games. If i did a lot of online multi player i would have went for a 144hz.

I use a single monitor because there is no way I could run 3 x 1440p monitors I am not going to go back to 23" monitors, I like having 27" sizes and a minimum res of 1440p

I mean, I could buy 3 rog swifts and 4x 980s but im happy with a single 27" 1440p screen

Going from Laptops to a desktop I felt the need to justify myself with 3x Asus VN247H-P monitors to go for the surround gaming. While I can argue that it's better than 1 monitor I loved the expose/spaces from Mac OSX and found 3 monitors vital for me to browse the web, game and skype at the same time. The only reason I'd go for 1 monitor instead of 3 would be for 1440p/4k or G-sync.

Having gone from a dual monitor setup to a single laptop screen ('cos uni) I miss the extra space for doing work on. Never played games on a multimonitor setup though so can't say anything on that.

For productivity, I need at least 2 (and they don't have to be the same size).

For gaming, it depends on the game being played. For FPS games, only one display is necessary/ideal, IMO. But for racing sims (which I play a lot of), having 3 surround monitors or one ultra-wide display (21:9) is far superior vs. one typical 16:9. In racing, the extra depth of field helps with immersion and having that extra peripheral vision can mean the difference between cutting someone off, ending the race for the both of you, or leaving sufficient "racing room".

The new, ultra-wide 21:9 curved displays have me intrigued as they would give a more seamless surround experience vs. 3 separate displays with bezel's in between.

7 people on earth, 8 people reading this thread.

I'm scared.

OT: I would have to agree. I occasionally use 2 monitors for my laptop and I find that to be perfect. 3 monitors would take too much horsepower for too little of a gain, and those bezels just.... Bother me. I'd much rather have an ultra-wide monitor than 3 regular ones.

I can be a cynical a**hole at times. I apologize if I cause any offence at those time. I also occasionally have issues communicating my point. Extreme introversion + Photographic memory + Some other things.
