Why Samsung doesn't have IPS monitors?

nokturrduk84

I was browsing the monitors & some monitors really look very nice, like this ones:

But what I found, Samsung doesn't produce IPS monitors... Why is it so?

So after that, I decided to go with other brands & after several minutes of browsing, I stopped at this monitor:

This one also looks very good & it's IPS. What you think?

They have PLS monitors.

PLS is pretty much Samsung's implementation of IPS.

IPS is being made  by LG.

Aha, understood. And are they good? I mean are they same as IPS?

At 8ms that Dell would be horrendous for gaming but great for anything else.

I disagree; I have no issues gaming on my P2414H

@nokturrduk84 the Dell P2414H has the same display as the U2414H -- just not calibrated in the factory--so same potential for quite a bit less.

Okay, then another question: I can't find info about this particular model. Does it have PSL?

8ms is not bad at all. You won't notice any difference with anything under 20ms unless you're playing extremely competitive fps like CS or something.

Your human response time is over 200ms. 8ms vs 1ms will not be a noticeable difference.

Ok sorry I've owned dozens of monitors and this 1ms I have right now I do notice, especially in CQB BF3, same with the 144hz my monitor supplies, again something everyone tells I CAN'T notice... it' something I can definitely notice.

I play very intensively CS GO & with vsync off (usually 250-300 fps). Do you think should I get that Dell anyway?

You'd be better off getting a 144hz monitor instead, so something like an Asus VG248QE or BenQ XL2411Z

What you're noticing is the input lag, not the pixel response time.

You should be able to notice it but not for the reason of latency it only affects motion clarity. I game on PLS and prefer the nicer colours over the motion clarity but definitely notice the difference, in saying that I'm really looking forward to OLED when we can have the best of both worlds.

if you're doing an apples to apples comparison like an 8-bit vs an 8-bit panel then yes to the human eye the pls panel wont be any different lightly better even (maybe) i personally own a samsung monitor and the only downside to them is they dont include VESA mounts !?!?!?! even though they look really great thats my only complaint.

Pixel response and input lag are different things. I quite a few games, I definitely notice the difference between my BenQ that I use and monitors with input lag
