MSI's TwinFrozr Wannabe (new cooler)

JoaoPRSousa

While searching for 970 I found this O.o

http://www.msi.com/product/vga/GTX_970_4GD5T_OC_.html#hero-overview

Looks like my GTX 750 on steroids...

That's just MSI's standard non-reference cooler. Twin Frozr is a different cooler with a different design, denser heatsink, more heatpipes that are thicker, etc.

Cause of the low TDP of the 970 they can now use this cooler that was previously used on mid range cards and just add another fan and make the heatsink bigger. This way they have a cheaper 970 for people who don't want/need the TF/Gaming version.

If its a low pwer consuming card then the high end cooler isnt necesary. If it cuts costs and gives people high performance good for them.

I would get one, since my rig's color scheme is bluish and not redish :)

It's like the black knight cooler that appeared on the HD 7870 a couple of years ago.

Yeah I know... But in the 7 series (NVidia) there wasnt such cooler...

Space Journal #1: So Apparently i  was dropped on the moon like i'm a mars rover, in a matter of hours i have found the transformers on the dark side of the moon. Turns out its not that dark since dem robots are filled with lights, i waved hi to the Russians on the space station, turns out all those stories about space finding humans instead of the other way around is true(soviet Russia joke). They threw me some Heineken beer and I've been sitting staring at the people of this forum and earth since.

Just because it consumes little power doesn't mean it won't generate a lot of heat.

Too bad there aren't any black and white colour themed 970/980s to match my Node 304. Then again, you can always custom paint the shrouds...

Just because it consumes little power doesn't mean it won't generate a lot of heat.

Thats kinda how things work...

This card is more efficient with power use, its converting LESS energy into wasted heat, QED it doesn't need as beefy a cooler to do the same job if not a better job because its better with converting energy to what it needs energy for instead of having that energy be converted into useless (and detrimental) heat

perhaps you should take a physics class my friend. it cant give out more heat (the result of the power being used throughout the processor) than it takes in. thats why a titan z, which has a beastly processor that takes allot of "power" requires a better cooler than a 750 ti which has a much lower end processor and consumes less "power"

Sadly, like me... I only have Black, Blue and White. So Black and blue are needed. I can get this to swap out my 660 ti when I get some $, and it will still match my build~

... You do know what TDP stands for, don't you?
