LTT 3DMark Thread

Badass!  You're killing it with that graphics score man.   Very nice!

I'm thinking that physics score should be closer to 24,000 or am I making that up?

Either way, nice work.  Micro Center is open tomorrow.  I might need to grab a 3rd 1080  if they have one.  Just kidding.  Or am I?

Thanks :D. Physics score could probably be better, though I am just impressed by how stable it is at 4.85ghz and 1.45v.

You should get another 1080 just so I can see the scores.

With a 4th card you should be able to. AMD's Crossfire Scaling is much better than Nvidias SLI.

Can I have a pic of your system?

If I can find one for around $300 I'll definitely give it a shot.

Sweet looking rig!!

Nice voltage on that chip.  I can run Windows fine at that voltage and run most 3d benches, but there's no way my CPU can pass Cinebench at that speed with that little voltage.

I guess for now I'll work on getting a few hundred extra overall points to see if I can slime my way up a bit higher in Firestrike.  I guess my physics score is keeping us close in overall score.

Try and find an R9 Nano, they might be $300.

Nice score and setup man!  I see that you have an Asus motherboard.  Have you messed around with Asus' Thermal Throttle Control app any?

Never heard of it.  I'm not very adept at CPU overclocking...I know enough to make me dangerous, but that's about it.  The only thing I've done in the bios, apart from what I'd consider "normal" was to turn off the over current protection....with the 2 x 980tis and kickin the CPU in the teeth, it was tripping that nearly constantly.

And...thank you.  I haven't done a whole lot with the GPUs at this point.  They're in EVGA's step up queue, so one is on water and the other is on air, so I can't push them as hard as I'd like to.  I don't want to use the other water block, because if I do, I can't return it.  lol

Benchmark: Fire Strike

CPU: i7 6700K @4GHz / 4.2 Turbo

GPU: GTX 1080 FE

GPU Core: 1957MHz / 2050MHz Boost

GPU Memory: 5900MHz (11,800 effective)

Score: 17,655

So it seems after going past +500 on the mem it reduces GPU/Overall score. :/ Each +100 dropped the score bit-by-bit. A good mix I found would be +500 mem and +180 core.

Another thing I found out: I cleaned the stock thermal paste off the GPU and replaced it with Thermal Grizzly Kryonaut. GPU temps dropped from factory 58c 100% fan in Fire Strike, to 49c with Kryonaut. A difference of 9c with the same (19.2c) ambient temps. Quite nice. :D

Edit: also using driver hotfix 368.51

Try and overclock your CPU more. Going up to 1.4V for short runs is fine. Also run FS Extreme and FS Ultra.

Not much of an impact. Going from 4.4 to 4.7 will make a significant impact.

Do you think it would be safe to OC long enough for some benchmarks? I thought i was having stability issues but I think it was the graphics cards. I think I pretty much maxed them out.

here is some screen shots of my cpu stress test. i just don't want to take it into unsafe territory.

Thanks :D. Physics score could probably be better, though I am just impressed by how stable it is at 4.85ghz and 1.45v.

You should get another 1080 just so I can see the scores.

If I can find one for around $300 I'll definitely give it a shot.

Wiring could use some work...

snap man...

is the core clock stable on all three or is it only Firestrike stable?

I can run mine two at 1100MHz easily but in GTA V they ain't stable at anything but stock

P.S. updated the score board
