Rumored release date is Q3 2013.

There is an SKU missing between the 8970 & the 8950 , seeing as how only the 8970 is using the 420mm2 GPU, not sure what to take from that, there is bound to be a cut down version of this 420mm2 die in the binning process & AMD must sell those in some form.
This leak also clashes with previous rumors that indicated AMD will be completely skipping the 8000 series & going to the 9000 series.
It also clashes with AMD's own claims that the 7000 series will remain the main focus for AMD up to Q3 of this year.

So all in all, I would take this leak with a grain of salt, however it's worth mentioning that this leak came from the exact source that leaked both the 780 & the 770, so there might be some truth to this.

So it runs coolers but "The price of the Radeon HD 8950 video board will be of $399 / €309 – 399. The performance is 10% superior to HD 7970GHz."

Sounds good but I don't think it's going to be that much of an improvement like we had with GTX7XX.

Is this the real life? Or is this just fantasy?

I was expecting the 8970 price to come in a bit cheaper. I was expecting to see a max of $550 launch price for the flagship.

a $200 difference between flagship and one version down is fairly large.

Can't wait to see it hands on... May have to wait for the first price drop or large sale though.

I also believe the cards wont launch until Q1 2014. Around late January - mid February.

You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means.

These AMD rumors are becoming very confusing, first it was 8000 series Q1 2013, then Q2 2013, then Q4 2013, then rumors said AMD was cancelling the 8000 series all together & going for the 9000 series on 20nm, & now we're back again to 8000 series saying Q3 2013 release date with full specs & prices.

Me too, even though I posted this I remain very skeptical, some of the specs & pricing don't make any sense what so ever.

For example, the 8870 specs are exactly the ones of the 7870 Tahiti LE all be it with a higher core clock, but the price is 40$ more than the current 7870 Tahiti LE, which doesn't make sense at all.

I guess that's one way of keeping things secret... cover up leaks with tons of fake leaks so everyone is confused .

Although this is just a rumour, i would laugh like hell at all the 780 buyers if this really came out, guess what? Paying $650 for a flagship card isn't such a good idea after all [When you compare it to previous x80s]

This is either a rumor started by AMD to "test the waters" or some Joe wanting AMD to make an equivalent for NVIDIA's 700 series.

If I remember correctly, the 8800 GTX was about the same price when it came out and performed better but cost more than ATI's equivalent.

The 8970 specs just resurfaced, they were leaked way before we even learned about Titan let alone the 780.

No one can possibly answer that question until/if the 8970 is released.

But according to that "35% faster than 7970 Ghz Edition" statement it should land squarely between a Titan & a 780.
