Do you ever get that feeling, where you realise that life isn't really that great as you have previously thought? Sometimes your happy, but other times you are down.

I used to live a life where I just played video games and nothing else. I was always happy. Now I'm 16, and things are different.

I try to think about what's important for me in life. You can only play the video games that I enjoy so many times, and new games don't come out very often that I really enjoy. I absolutely love music, but what will happen when I have listened to all the progressive metal there is, what if I run out of music?

Remembering that I actually have a pretty decent life, and have fun in school, I feel like I shouldn't be depressed. I don't feel like the reason for my depression really should affect me emotionally. I don't understand how it can. Why can't I just leave it and not think about it? I don't know.

I'm not suicial, but have been a little bit a few months ago. Yet this is something that affects me everyday so that I often think about whether it's worth it. How important are really the things I do in my life?

I'm not talking about commiting suicide, I don't want to do that. I'm talking about other things, a craving for something. I'll simply leave it at that.

What have I done to deserve this? I haven't done anything. You'll just have to accept that some people are more unfortunate than others. Life isn't fair.

p.s. Music, oh that music, makes me think about it. I love music.

Life sucks, It's the truth. We start to learn to work at 4 years old, We learn FOR YEARS, just so we can spend our whole day in an office or generally something we don't like doing.

Our lives are controlled by the governments, And they see us as sheep, They shear us (take our money we worked for) and don't care about how we live.

Life simply isn't great, but billions of people have worse lives, and millions better ones. People like you and me are the lucky ones, apart from the fact that we're being milked.

People in africa and the middle east (some countries) suffer way more than we do, and still 99% of the people there fight through and try to live their life as best as possible.

We might have to learn hard, work hard and still live in debts, but atleast we have a proper roof over our heads and for example, Computers, things that easily entertain us.

If you live likee us, It's not great, It's not good. But it's the best we're gonna get. We have to accept it, or end our life like pussies.

Check out philosophy. Get to know yourself. You can then answer those questions on your own.

I think of media consumption like food for the brain - music, reading, television, movies, video games, etc.. and thinking as exercise. Some media asks us to do some thinking, some of it does not. I still need that brain exercise or I'll get mentally fat and lethargic.

Media consumption and guitar playing is what I have.

"Now I'm 16, and things are different."

Wait till you get in the real world and have bills mortgage and all that crap to pay. You got it easy kid. I was working at your age. Kids there days.... I got school... So? I have a job with no breaks in the summer like you have. Also I don't even have the time to play games hardly any more. As Hopsin said you have to work to put a smile on.

If you've previously won the build off please pm me so we can get something worked out.

My problem isn't school and having to work.

Sounds like you might be a little out of balance. Playing games and instruments is great for your brains, but your body needs an outlet, too. Try out some sports, martial arts are great, for example. Try to find something that balances your life a little and gives you a certain routine to hold on to (karate twice a week at 7 P.M., for example). I had a friend back in school who was in a similar situation as you are in, until he started doing kung-fu on a regular basis. He became an entirely different person within a year, and I mean that in a good way.

edit, BTW, lesson #1, never be afraid to talk about your problems. You may get immature "wait till you see the real world"-answers on the internet, but talking to your parents and friends is never a bad idea. I've had two people I knew commit suicide without ever losing a word about their problems. They would very likely be alive and happy today, if they hadn't been too afraid to talk and seek help. If you ever feel like things are getting too much for you to handle, don't make the mistake they made.

Edit No.2, set yourself some goals. I used to work a well-paying, but terribly boring job for about a year, I would have gone bezerk if it weren't for a clear goal I had in mind, which was to save up enough money for my dream motorcycle. Simple things like that can greatly increase your perceived quality of life.

I've found that life gets better as you get older.  16 sucks, you have more responsibility and less freedom than any other time in your life.  Try not to stress to much and look for stuff that gets your interest going.  Everything that worries you now won't matter latter on anyway.

Being told that others "have it worse" doesn't do much to remedy the issue. Even if others felt the same way and overcame those feelings, there's no guarantee their method would work for you. This is why you must think and understand your problems. This forum probably isn't the best place for guidance; have you considered seeing a therapist? They could help guide you to that understanding on a more personal level.

Welcome to growing up. Life sucks and you just have to make the best of it. I'm 22 and I am not happy about being adult with responsibilities. 16 was much easier. For instance, I have to remember to feed myself.

You're 16, dude. That's the time of your life when you're riding a hormonal roller coaster. It's perfectly normal to get emotional and over think things, we've all been there. (barring the really young members). I'm in my mid 20's and am glad I'm not in that teenage phase again.

Welcome to your slow ascension to adulthood, it's all downhill from here!

Shit gets boring over time.

Sometimes things get better, but mostly they just get worse.

That's what makes Empire Strikes Back so good, it's like life, a series of down endings.
