Remember when gaming was good?

orangecat

I remember when gaming was good when developers made a game and ti was 100% finished with next to no bugs because patching did not exist on console and there was no DLC when you wanted extra content that made a entire new game. Remember memory cards those things where the best you could take your saves anywhere and play them on any system.

You can do the same on the internet much more easily, and you can create and use mods as well. Never has there been a time when games had been 100% bug-free.

And there were no games tied to profiles or ownership over gamesaves (xbox 360)

Or when there weren't a million hints and guides, you had to figure stuff out for yourself if you wanted to win

Morrowind matches all of those descriptions yet still is one of the best games of all time. I agree with you though. Metro last light has a 5 dollar dlc for a difficulty level.

I wasn't really around for nes/snes stuff. Nintendo 64 was a golden era for me. I spent countless hours playing Paper Mario 64 and Harvest Moon.

Well personally I loved memory cards. To think of all my gaming hours on one little piece of hardware that I could share with friends, and I did, and trade game saves.

Is this the real life? Or is this just fantasy?

You sir are playing games with rose tinted glasses :) .

Why carry a physical memory card if you can pretty much upload the saves in seconds and share it ?

I used to think DLC was the coolest thing ever about 3-4 years ago being a console-only gamer but companies have manipulated it into an infamous word. Good examples of DLC was GTA 4's expansions.

Remember when Valve used to make games, then not release several patches which caused the game to be incredibly unstable?

The things they have done to "Ruin" games are really simple to fix but developers just asume the players are all stupid. That used to be a thing about being good at games...you had to be smart. Now any one can play and the game will help them along the way...

Meeeehhhhhhhh. I did like it better when this was the game and that was that..if it bugged out too bad.

To be honest, I actually like where gaming has gone, the graphics are better and the games pull you in more. I remember playing on my N64, and it was fun, but compared to now, it was worse.

This! I were just about to list those as good expansion packs!

games are still good today as well, it's only a handfull of companies that insist on EAing their games. but there is still good in the gaming industry! Bethesda, Valve, Ubisoft, The Creative Assembly, Irrational games, etc. make okay games, CD Projekt RED and Cloud Imperium Games Corporation make FANTASTIC games. (I don't know too many awesome game studios but there are many more awesome studios that don't EA their games)

Gaming is still good; even better than it was in my opinion.

Don't get me wrong, most of today's big publishers are corrupt business men in suits, but i still enjoy the majority of content.

It was simpler back then you didn't have to worry about being online or having stuff activated to an account when you bought the disc you owned it 100% now things are getting sketchy when it comes to ownership.
