The one without the window is slightly quieter, as the window takes the place of sound dampening material.

How much of a difference do you think it makes?

The windowed is slightly louder, just like Anaillation said.

You can also see your components with the windowed one.

And you can see the power LED's and other lighting with the windowed one.

Lastly, you can see how fast your fans are spinning with the windowed case.

I have windowed with stock fans + 1 which I bough to add into front and it is really silent. I have it in room where I sleep and I can say that when I have PC turned on over night there is no problem for me to fall asleep because of noice.

Depends on how loud your components actually are. If you're running two AMD reference cards in crossfire with an 8-core FX on the stock cooler then it will be a decent difference, but in most cases, it'll be hard to tell unless you directly compare the two.

The noise difference isn't terrific imo. I'd prefer to be abled to look at my components and see if everything is alright and putting LEDs all over the place etc. But if you're going to put it under your desk in a cabin and want silence, get the non windowed one.

who cares...

If you're a silence freak go for non-windowed, unless you're one of those people who have the constant need to look at their components, or if you simply have your PC on your desk.

If you are going to use noctuas then I cant imagine how much more silent it can get as it is really very silent for me right now.

Agreed. I can't hear my S12B's in my Zalman Z11. Loudest thing in the case is either the PSU or the two side 80mm's

Installing a side intake into that case does little for actual cooling aside from adding more dust and noise to your system. Not a fan of the build quality of the R4 either way. Case has nice cable management, but that's the only positive I can say.

Keep in mind, a case is only as quiet as the fans installed. The sound dampening isn't magic, pure wind noise or a loud motor will still be heard, it's not dead silent unless you're using anemic fans or very low rpm.

It will go under my desk, but will not be covered in any way. and the loudest fan I have is an acx cooler on my gpu (did not do proper research). Will the windowless one be able to absorb that noise?

It makes all the difference in the world. If you're going windowed, you're better off with another case. I'd steer clear of quiet cases if you have any plans on running an sli setup.

A little, but likely not too much of a mind-blowing difference from under your desk.

Yes the one without the window is more sound absorbing (assuming you don't remove the moduvent and put in a 3k RPM fan or something

I plan in getting a second gtx 780. Will the quiet case make them overheat?

Yeah, that's probably not the best idea mate. Look for a performance case with good airflow. B)
