I am just proud of myself that i know where i can use ''you're'' instead of ''your'',''their'' instead of ''there'', ''than'' instead of ''then'' etc.etc.

I'd say 95% because my accent is pretty heavy.

Not that I would be bragging, but my C2 Certificate of profficiency in English is a thing...

I practise it way too little, writing however, I do make tiny mistakes but nothing major.

So many things I could write here... things like this.

I'm assuming 100% = natively, not that you know 100% of the words and grammar rules. Since I regularly use words I know they are correct but the spell checkers do not pick up (like "natively" here on this post) I know that I'm at least a notch above a spell checker so maybe 85% or a bit better at times? Is hard to measure this things.

The thing is that people do not understand that you are not only able, but likely, to phrase things differently if you're an english as second language speaker: my brain language is just wired different than yours and this is not only true between each and every one of us but more so in the case of people with a very different cultural background who first learned another language. That doesn't means that my expressions are grammatically incorrect or misused however, this is something that's very difficult for people who never learn other languages to understand and greatly misjudge how well a person can speak a language.

Well, living in England certainly has its advantages :D I'm pretty confident with my ability to speak, read and write English. I avoid Amercanisims, I spell commonly misspelled words correctly, I know when to use my apostrophes etc.

What I do find impressive is seeing somebody whose native language is not English speak it fluently, complete with idiomatic expressions. There are a few people on this forum who I would have believed spent their entire lives in an English speaking country, had they not said otherwise. I've learned Spanish and can understand some basic conversation - if the other person takes their time to speak - but I wish I was as fluent as some people are here with English.

It's actually not that difficult in the case of American English for example: There's fist very heavy cultural influence from America which is is, for better or worst, the largest exporter of entertainment still. Also with the internet generation there's an even greater level of interaction and opportunities for people to pick up idiomatic expressions and such.

I can even (badly) imitate a few different American accents just because of the fact that I've been talking to Americans for the better part of 15 years sometimes all day long on several call center jobs.

As my education is completely in English and I am being thought British English, I can say for myself that my level is rather high.

But, as said before, when you are just talking with people on the forum, there is no need for academic grammar and/or vocabulary :)

I don't know. Seriously, I don't. Rating my language skills or any skill for me has been frustrating, surprising, and awkward since I just don't know where I'm at. For whatever reason, grammar isn't taught well enough in the schools I've been in and this is from being in a country that (stereotypically) assumes everyone speaks English. I learned most or remembered learning grammar in French. Yes, foreign languages teaches grammar more or better than the official language of the freaking country.

Potato out of 10.

Speak/Read ~ 95%

write ~75%

In school I never completely mastered grammar, so my writing is often filled with grammar nazi style punctuation mistakes.  Not enough to make my writings unintelligible, but enough to annoy anyone receiving a paper or article if I ever had to write one.

If I ever do have to get my grammar up to 100% I can easily do it, I'll just need a week to comb over all the minutia.

I am impelled not to squeak like a grateful and frightened mouse, but to roar...
