Contrary to popular belief anime isn't incredibly massive in Asia. Sure Japan has the biggest scene, however one shouldn't directly correlate watching anime with being Asian.  

 

How about all of Heaven Society combined? Over 9000!

If you read here it says the Heaven Societies's combined number is close to 20k hours!!

I guess 1-15 hours for me as I only watched the melancholy of haruhi suzumiya, Sankarea (Still want a season 2), and wolfs rain. If Pokemon counts, then bump that up to 191-250 since I watched nonstop for several weeks several years ago. I also watched sailor moon back when I was in elementary school, but I don't really remember much about it.

Hmmm 4000 hours?

Well lest just call the average episode of anime ~23min. That makes a 52 episode anime almost 20 hours, a 26 episode anime almost 10 hours, and a 13 episode anime almost 5 hours.

I see a bunch of people saying the have watch 1000 anime or whatever. I know all of that isnt 26 episode series but some could be 52 or larger series or movies so lets just use 26 ep series. If its 1000 of those thats 10,000 hours right there. I know that is by no means exact and likely a very large over estimate. Even if you make that all 13 episode series thats 5000 hours which easily exceeds the max in the poll. Thats also might be a gross overestimation but even half that which probably isnt is over the poll.

saying anime is sick because of futunari is like saying any porn watcher in the entire world is sick because of bestiality, or saying anyone who watches tv is disgusting because of porn addiction, it just doesn't make sense, enough nonsense.

 

ON TOPIC, how much anime have i watched? no frigging clue, a few hundred shows aswell as watching the big 3 3 times each, don't even watch follow them at this point, they simply do not interest me, i just had some time to kill that i didn't know how to spend otherwise, id guesstimate in the 1351-2000 bracket but i can't be sure.

 

Edit: did some math and i'm recasting my vote as 2000+.

Part 2: The Fans

 

It’s fair to say a good percent of them are idiots it’s the same as with any other fanbase most of them tend to be idiots if they’re not constantly apologising for the mistakes of the companies they’re acting more like fans of the company that provides the product instead of the product its self. Come on people we are customers and consumers we deserve better than what we get at the moment when we see better products elsewhere do we not buy elsewhere?  And if said product has restrictions on in like region coding do we not look for ways to get around it? But because of the apologists it’s only the minority that buy elsewhere or look for ways around the restrictions. 

Then there are the problem fans and these can be split in to three groups 

Group 1; often they’re a little too hyper, adding random Japanese into their speech, and generally not knowing how stupid they look at times you could just put that down to them being the other kind of socially awkward but seriously they’re not the best ambassadors for what I’d like to call the scene but whatever you call it they’re just irksome at most (for reference check any western video of “caramelldansen” in public.)

Group 2; you could easily just say they’re the complete polar opposite of the above but there’s more to them. They’re mostly secretive about their hobby/interest some to the point that they don’t even want their family knowing so yeah they’re the sort who’s only collection is all on Hard Drives. Well there really isn’t much to say about them as they don’t do enough for there to be anything to note.

There are alot of us closet anime fans that no one would suspect to be a anime watcher like me. We're just hidden really well, no traces on social media no nothing.

Plus a bunch of stuff I haven't put into my calculations.

 

I don't really watch much anime (all those episodes are over many years), I read a fair bit of manga though, because it's faster to read though a couple of chapters than to watch an episode of anime.

i truly do not understand how that is possible, i have watched my fair share of anime, and at this point i have a sincerely hard time finding series to watch, there is so much mediocre junk out there, not to mention everyone doesn't like every theme, i have to call bullshit on 99% of people saying they have watched more than 500 different series.
