Posted July 29, 2014 SOURCE: http://www.tomshardware.com/news/verizon-wireless-throttling-network-optimization,27327.html#xtor=RSS-997 Well, I guess Verizon has made the right decision. They are now starting to throttle the 5% of customers who still use the legacy unlimited 4G LTE plans. Apparently, this is part of Verizon's Network Optimization policy set back 3 years ago. But I'm surprised they haven't done anything until now. I personally don't give 2 shits about Verizon; I actually think this is the perfect thing for Verizon. But, it's only throttled when the bandwidth is congested. Once the congestion clears up, the throttling stops. Thoughts? Posted July 29, 2014 At least it makes sense. As a customer I wouldn't really be complaining, because look at it this way: you have unlimited data on the network that has the most 4g coverage in the states, having throttled connection everywhere is better than having good connection some places and not in others, or just simply having good connection everywhere for 2gb. Having good connection everywhere for only 2gb of data is like riding on a really fun rollercoaster 5 times for a set price, then you have to pay a shitload for the rest of the rides. Sure, while you have it it is great, but after you run out, not so much. I'd rather take unlimited rides on a mediocre ride, this way I can ride all day, instead of for a few minutes/an hour. //ccap
 Posted July 29, 2014 They have always done this, even back during 3G. Makes sense to me, throttle the top 5% so the other 95% can have a good experience. And it is unlikely you are in the top 5% anyways, when I was using 50-80GB/month I was told I still wasn't being throttled. This was prior to it being a legacy plan though... I was told that they have several customers (my company I work for being one of them) that were regularly going over 500GB/month on a plan and that is when they throttle it when they get into congested areas. Happy AT&T customer here so I son't have to put up with verizon. Yeah, about that. http://www.att.com/esupport/datausage.jsp?source=IZDUel1160000000U
