I built my latest PC ~1 year ago (when I asked you about best airflow case @TVwazhere) and you pointed me to the Torrent. All my parts came in EXCEPT the Seagate Ironwolf 8TB. So I put together the rig and eventually the HDD came in. I let it sit in it's box for a few months before actually installing it into the case, turned out it was DOA. I sent it in to Seagate and they gave me a refurb drive in return... kind of stunk to buy a "new" drive just for it to not work and get a used drive after the fact. It still works and I just use it for Mass Storage of things, nothing mission critical.

Any particular reason you're going with Intel CPU but AMD graphics? And that 4k display can reach up to 390hz refresh rate? (am I reading that correctly??)

Wasn't that 5 cylinder engine a european release only? Getting close to 50k for me, but during the warmer months my mileage also goes to the motorcycle 🙂

GPU is a place holder, I am debating on this vs an 7800X3D build, or waiting for Zen 5 depending on how long I can hold out with my build from 2014/2018.

The front 180's are pretty great. I'll be putting the H170i up front with the three 140s an move the 180s to the bottom. I'm allergic to RGB though, so blacked out is my plan.

I just managed to score an EVGA 3060 XC Gaming 12GB non-LHR for $330 AUD ($227 USD), which seems like a steal as I can see the same card for over $700 AUD new from various retailers & on US eBay the cheapest buy it now was $320 USD.

Edit: I also managed to score a brand new unopened EVGA RTX 2060 XC Ultra for $300 AUD ($206 USD) which from what I can see is what used ones are going for on eBay..

If I can get my GTX 1070 to work again, it would mean I have 4 EVGA GPU's at my disposal.

Got me one of them Leenus Touch Tips screwdrivers + the Philips bit set. I still plan on buying the Torx set when that comes back in stock, but there's another thing I might need help trying to find.

I need tips on a bit set to get for the LTT screwdriver that has something for standoffs or video card/mobo IO screws... I can't think of what the hell to Google to find something.

Bought some cheap cables to use with some of my cans, they're more for ease of use/convenience more than anything else as the stock cables are thick, still and unwieldy. They're from top, L to R:
ENIGMAxoustics Dharma D1000, Sennheiser HD600, MD Sennheiser HD6XX
Grado GS1000i, AKG K812 Pro

Also got a pair of new earpads for my Grado GS1000i.....

The 2060 showed up today. 100% unopened with factory stickers in place. I quickly broke those bad boys to investigate further. Yep. Seems legit. I'll stick in a system sometime later this week to confirm it works etc, but it's weird that the seller let it go so cheap when it was new old stock.

Probably your local hardware store maybe.. I mean motherboard standoffs are just a standard size hex bit, so you'd just need whatever that is that fits the 1/4" driver socket..

Remember buying 2 new Exos drives for my server, and one came with the normal EXOS label, the other with a white label, and was curious same shop same order, and the sticker said "recertified" called the seller, and they said that "whoops." and got it returned and got a real on.. would never accept either recertified or used in anyway, especially for a spinning drive. especially when bought new, from a store. i don´t know if the shop had just "hoped" i would have accepted it. because the drive was fully operational.

I spoke with multiple people regarding RMA on my drive and they all said it would be recertified upon getting one back. At this point I don't mind as it's not a mission-critical drive. In the future I may stray away from Seagate if I ever get a NAS put together but I may try them again and simply buy the drive locally instead of through amazon. I'm sure the shipping process from amazon drivers can be hit or miss when it comes to treating the package with care.

Hey, it finally came! Ordered in October, I think? Shipped around my birthday last month. Feels premium. Love how tight the tolerances are & how the bits don't seem to be shit & want to strip screws like the bits on my other ratcheting screwdriver do. Was it worth the $$? Time will tell. But it's a well-built tool. Something I am always a fan of & want in my arsenal.

I’ll post more details when they actually arrive, but I got:

DB0F310C-75E2-483C-B845-E5BC42B34FAA.thumb.jpeg.d142d917feba237a928c7f64371de627.jpeg

another ECS kam1-I, because that one has an I/o shield and I no longer have the shield for mine, and it doesn’t hurt to have a spare

AM1 is so weird and I like it, I intend to keep my Athlon 5350 around until it’s some kind of historical relic

i like it so much that when I had to purge all my hardware and retro systems a few years ago, it’s one of the few things I took with me, the other hardware all being given away or sold or thrown out

and a chromebook CR48, the first chromebook

that one has no battery and runs Linux, so I want to get another one as well that runs chromeOS still and has a battery so I switch between the two without having to modify a still stock original one

it’s the purest form of computer, no branding or anything on any external surface
