How's the build coming along now?

 

 

Still saving money :(

 

I'm hoping I get enough money to finish it soon, but I'm unsure when it'll be as I'm trying to get a job.

Hey guys, I'll probably be sticking to air cooling for the forseeable future, I'm going to upload pictures tonight with my new CPU cooler. ( Just don't have $600 of cash laying around with nothing better to do with it)

 

I also painted the PCI-E covers from white to black.

 

The cpu cooler I ordered:

I also bought the slim fan that comes on the "universal" model, so the thick fan doesn't cover my ram.   I'll upload a bunch of pictures tonight of my set-up as well.  I "should" be able to do 4.8 ghz on my 4790k 24/7 with this cooler, maybe even 5ghz.

Forgot to mention, the yellow on my rings is slightly off color, but I found the paint I need to match it better I'll go get some asap and get the colors closer to matching.

Nice I wouldn't have noticed because I'm not great with colours, which is the only reason I've not painted anything of mine I did really want a colour scheme but it's hard to pick one when you're colour blind.

Even without waterccoling, this build looks great. You should try and tighten up those cables ;)

But I thought originally you were going to sell the 780 and buy two cheap 290's but keep them air.

How is your R9 290X Lightning performs at 1440p with new AAA like FC4 and ACU? I'm planning to upgrade my GPU to either 290x or GTX 970. The 970 atm is $70 more than the 290x. I'm impressed about how the 970 overclocked and many people have said that an OCed 970 will beat the 980, but the prices on AMD right now just makes me itch and make me want to drive to the computer store and snatch it. Btw that colour scheme really comes out greeeeeat.

Had a 900D previously with 780 SLI and a 3930k, hated how big it was tbh, that's why I have this now :)

I don't have either games so I'm not sure, but all the games I play run perfectly fine at max settings, like bf4/bf3, titanfall runs alright.

 

I should get a few of the newer AAA titles, I'm not really up-to-date with recent games as I mostly play LoL/bf4/cs go/ titanfall.

I'm unsure how bad the air will get starved from the top card though.   Thoughts?
