so we all like linus tech tips forum  we all like independence of internet, what USA government officials are going to do is to vote for net subscription packages. Members of the House of Representatives are trying to sneak through a dangerous amendment that will strip the FCC of its power to enact meaningful net neutrality. The provision will prevent the FCC from treating the Internet like an essential telecommunications service, thwarting any chance of creating clear rules that would prevent Internet service providers from unfairly discriminating against how we access parts of the Internet, such as creating "fast lanes" for those who can afford them.

The Representative tacked this amendment on to legislation that otherwise has nothing to do with net neutrality, in the hopes that no one will notice. WE NOTICED.

We expect the House of Representatives to vote on this today or tomorrow, so we must ACT NOW.'

I know that linustechtips.com is not USA based but for those who live in US it is important that laws like that do not see light of the day or else it will mean that we will have controlled internet. it is not ok for any government to tell us that its fine if our independence on web can be limited to big fat companies that pay for smoother traffic internet service is expensive as it is in US and if u can u should speak up.

Who elected the government?

Our two party system doesn't allow for proper elections. You either vote for one of the two state approved puppets that have been thrown into the spotlight by the corporate powers that be , or you don't and one of them will win regardless. We are given the illusion of choice so when the government screws up they can push the blame off onto 'the people who elected them'.

Who elected the government?

Depends which type of political candidate. In the U.S. you get 2 choices, neither perfectly match your views so you pick the one with most that are the same. The president is elected via the electoral college but he doesn't do much so it's not really a big deal.

I bet if u took a poll for americans only about whether or not they hate their government, the majority would vote "yes, they hate it"

America as a people, is great for the most part, its the stupid government ruining the country.

This is why I think USA is really retarded. They have the mentality of a person in the 1950s. So conservative.

Unfortunately this is true for around 40% of the country.

Who elected the government?

We actually have very little control over it, we have an electoral college that votes for us.

that is the best explanation of the question ever.

A better explanation would be that there is a certain group that is trying to convince the entire country that less government is better, that corporations have the same rights as people, that women don't actually deserve control over their own bodies, that the government is run on Christian principles (the opposite is true).

Who elected the government?

...the House of Representatives.

Not that this is a gigantic issue right now. If it passes the house it still has to pass the Senate then get signed by Obama. I'm sure Obama would sign it but if it made it as far as the Senate then I'd be worried. Since two different parties rule each house I don't think what one wants will get through the other, which has been the pattern for the last 8 years.

A better explanation would be that the Republicans are trying to convince the entire country that less government is better, that corporations have the same rights as people, that women don't actually deserve control over their own bodies, that the government is run on Christian principles (the opposite is true) among a bunch of other loony ideas. They also block legislature hypocritically and will block literally anything a "damn edjuhmucated bourgeoisie liberuh" puts into congress.

I thought you were a pretty decent person but you should know better than to make political bait this strong.

i believe that it needs a little cleaning up and polishing. if only there was a way to get the entire all the people in the capitol building out and put new and fresh(younger) people in and see where that takes us.
