Yes this is awful, terrible news.  And it'll probably happen so get used to it.

 

CoD players gotta get their ultra-bombastic-michael-bay-weed-smoking-transformer-explosion-superpower-fuck-you unique ability for the current generation of nextgen release, for only 70 euros + 25 for deluxe edition which includes a spike to sit on.

After what happened with Watchdogs, I am not going to preorder games for a long time. And most certainly NOT from Gamestop.

Ubisoft will cut half of AC unity out, make a "special" preorder bonus missions at GameStop, and then charge the rest of the game as a DLC.

If I understand correctly, this could mean that Sony and Microsoft will be selling incomplete versions of games for their systems via their own digital marketplaces, that sounds a bit ridiculous to me. <_<

 

If I don't understand it correctly and the situation is just speculative only, or the 'gameplay' is nothing significant or only timed as exclusive then I'd see it differently, I still don't like it but I'd see it differently at least.

 

Well they are already incomplete, remember that Ubisoft excel sheet for all different versions. If you promote physical sales this hard with exclusive gameplay elements then yes the digital version will be inferior and incomplete. Now it might not seem like much, I'll give you that, but if you compare the consoles vs the PC and see just how little they move via digital downloads only, then things like this will slow down the transition away from physical even longer.

 

For console gamers, the general consensus is that they don't trust digital content and refuse to give up physical discs, and you're giving them even MORE incentive to validate that position and continue to hold an outdated position and never go digital? That's a bad idea.

I don't mind cosmetic stuff being pre-order only, but content crosses the line.

I also like buying games at the store, I don't want places like gamestop to die out.
