Basically this technology uses old cell phones, recycled electronics, and sound detection equipment to detect illegal logging and help authorities catch those responsible while they are at it.

 

-Each device can detect chainsaws, gunshots, and animal distress calls up 1 kilometer away.

-Provides authorities with tools to have real time response to illegal logging.

-Each device is the equivalent to taking 3000 cars off the road.

-Need a minimum of $100 000 to get the project off the ground.

This sounds cool but I don't feel like it's a good idea to trust a Kickstarter project with the supposed fate of a rainforest

I find it hard to believe that the authorities would be able to make it there in time to do anything if it's the remote wilderness.

sounds cool but if I were to be the illegal loggers, I'll just get people to find and destroy the devices and carry on after, not that I would do that.

It's like whaling, it's not horrendously difficult to pull off. The world is a big place, people forget it sometimes.

Theres other ways to make money than illegal logging these people are just scum of the earth we shouldn't have to do this in the first place but unfortunately we do i think this is a really cool idea and i hope its effective.

I know is not technically wrong but I couldn't help but to think Dr. Dolittle is now working on a 9/11 call center waiting for those animals and their distress calls  :lol:

Remember, when they are logging this will detect the chainsaw the instant it starts up. So the illegal loggers will probably be in the middle of cutting up the tree when the authorities get there. At least this gives them more of a chance to punish them instead of never even knowing they were there until they are long gone with several trees.
