I just picked up a Xbox One controller last week.. IMO, it feels very similar to the 360 controller, just slightly better in some ways (though I haven't used a 360 controller in forever so I may be remembering it wrong)..

Edit: It should be noted that the Xbox One controller only works in wired mode and that it doesn't come with it's own cable, so you'll need to use your own Micro-USB cable.. Kinda stupid tbh.

i7 not perfectly stable at 4.4.. #firstworldproblems

xb360 is the best IMO.

For wired I'd recommend a 360pad as well. When it comes to wireless, I'd suggest the dualshock 4. I might be wrong but from what I've found for 360, it seems the only wireless receivers for windows are 3rd party, and personally I'm paranoid about them. DS4 uses bluetooth so it should work immidiately if you already have a dongle or if its built in. Although if you do get one you'd probably want an xinput wrapper, such as ds4tool or ds4windows, since it uses direct input instead.

yeah but i mean if the new and improved controller is there why the hell not right?

Because the Xbone controller isn't 100% compatible at the moment with all games, and there isn't that much of a difference between the two controllers. Not to mention, the 360 controller can be had for less.

lol even though I've seen it mentioned plenty of times I actually forgot the xbone controller now has windows drivers! While I haven't properly tried one, it is for the most part similar to the 360pad. While it was a couple of months ago I did like the sticks, however I didn't particularly like the triggers. I'd actually need more than 5 minutes of forza with it in bestbuy.

It depends on which you prefer. The DualShock 3 controller is perfect for those with smaller hands or who are accustomed to the DualShock design. The DualShock 4 controller is an excellent controller all around and has an interesting unique selling point - the touchpad can be used as a trackpad to control your computer.

The Xbox 360 is always a good choice, though in my personal experience I've found them to be very unreliable and have noticed that the thumbsticks in particular tend to have very noticeable dead-zone in comparison to the DS3 and DS4 controllers, as well as losing accuracy very quickly. (Mileage varies though, most of my friends seem to have had no issues). The Xbox One controller also has support for PC (introduced recently), though I haven't had any hands-on experience with it so can't comment much further than that.

In short, I'd say you should see which suits you best first. See if you can hold a friend's controller for a bit and determine which one you find the most comfortable and like the most. :)

Well most games are configured to recognize an Xbox 360 controller right off the bat no configuring your controls. An Xbox One controller works off of that and there is software to allow PS3 and PS4 controllers to work on PC as well and make your computer think it's an Xbox 360 controller. So pick any of those you like and use them. You'll have to do some searching for the Playstation controller drivers, look for DS3Tool and Better DS3Tool (you'll need the DS3 Tool, but Better DS3 tool makes it work even better. I can't tell you how many problems i've had with just DS3Tool.) for the PS3 controller and DS4Tool for the PS4 controller. They work amazingly.

Just just pick your preference from there.

Or if you don't mind paying $200-$300 pick up an Nvidia Shield if you have a GTX660 card and up and you'll be able to play your games anywhere on your wireless network. I'd say outside too, but I personally can't get that functionality to work right now. I can't tell you how nice it is to be able to go "I don't feel like sitting at my computer" and go sit in the living room or lay on the bed and play your PC games. It's not compatible with every game, i've run into a problems with only a rare few. But the main games you'll probably be playing you'll have no trouble whatsoever.

I have always had a ps3 or ps2 and have always used their setup for the controller... But I did have a Xbox 360 at one point and it didn't seem to make a difference to me... So to be honest which one is easier to use

The Xbox 360 Wired Controller is pretty much plug and play with most modern games, whereas with the DualShock 3 and DualShock 4 controllers you will need to download additional software to make them work with most games. There are two main programs available for the DualShock 3 currently - DS3Tool and BetterDS3. The DualShock 4 has only one, DS4Tool.

Generally speaking, the Xbox 360 controller would be the easiest to use. :)

I'll throw another vote for Logitech F710. Almost the best pad ever. I'd rate Dualshock slightly above it due to how much lighter it is and the ease of going wired for charging. The buttons, the shape and overall quality of the Logitech F710 is amazing, the best I've ever laid my hands on. Due to it's two AA-battery wireless design it is rather heavy (not unusable but compred to the Dualshock it's quite a lot heavier), which is my only real gripe about it.

The F710 is also as easy to use on modern games as the 360 controller since they both use Xinput. F710 also has a switch for DirectInput mode which works for older games and let's you remap the keys as you like (if you download the software from Logitech, that is). The directional pad looks like its the same as on 360 controller but it actually uses a different design underneath making it much superior and more fun to use. The general button icons match that of the 360 controller so on-screen help shouldn't be a problem (on modern games that support 360 controller/Xinput). The analog sticks and directional pad are in the Dualshock configuration, which I prefer over the 360 configuration.

A big recommendation from me. :)

Note: I have quite big hands.
