Ubisoft at it again with Nintendo and the Wii U

DeViLzzz

First time they wouldn't release Rayman Legends on time when it was ready for the Wii U and was actually to be an exclusive.  It ended up that Rayman Legends still sold the most on the Wii U because it is MEANT to be PLAYED on the Wii U.  Now Ubisoft is at it again stating they will not release a family game of some sort on the Wii U until the system sells more.  Facts are btw at this point the Wii U has sold more than the Xbox One.  I understand why Ubisoft is doing what it is doing and is hoping for greater reward by releasing this later but do they really have to be so smug about something like this when they were wrong the first time?

Here is hoping Nintendo gets revenge one day.

Maybe people will pay more attention to it if Nintendo changes the logo to this. It's like the "Beard of Sorrow" effect.

No, schlongs.

"New game from Ubisoft starring a titular character with a weird name: Richard 'Don' Schlong the Hardy Handyman will feature rock-hard combat with weapons like steel pipes, wooden poles, and ball-peen hammers, the game is slated to be released on 6/9/15".

Well they delayed Rayman Legends so it could be a multi-platform release that launched alongside GTA V. And they delayed Watch Dogs so it could launch during the same week as Mario Kart 8. They're just waiting for Nintendo to announce a release date for Smash so they can find another big game to potentially cannibalise their sales.

Saints Row 5?

No, Deep Silver publishes those. It's an entirely new, arousing game of epic ball-smashing!

It's a shame the Wii U gets so much hate, because I honestly think it is the best console.

It has a bunch of fun party and co-op games which is what I want a console for. If I wanted to play one of the 9001 FPS games I would do so on my PC which is far superior for those kinds of games.

The Wii U isn't just a locked down PC like the Xbone and PS4 are.

Let me play devil's advocate again here: A Ubisoft Wii U exclusive would be nice, but let's forget about that for a second.

Ok now let's think about this: What if it was Valve who had a fully developed and done Wii U game? Do you think that it should be their responsibility to energize Nintendo Sales out of their pockets? Of would you say "Valve is right to wait until Nintendo shows true commitment to really support their own platform with a lot more games" After all Steam was built on Valve committing to use Steam for Half life 2 even when it fucking sucked and everybody absolutely loathed it myself included. But they kept at it, more and more and eventually third party support came flooding in for both good and ill right now.

I see Nintendo is legitimately trying in some aspects but some other decisions like their "Fuck youtube" campaign are still antiquated, self defeating and all around baffling. Cut the crap and announce a new Metroid, a new Zelda, a new Galaxy, and for fucks sake a few brand new IPs. If Nintendo was at least announcing those things then you can turn around and say "Fuck you Ubisoft, don't sit on a finished game!" otherwise you're just pointing one finger at Ubisoft while 3 others are pointing back at Nintendo imho.

Ubisoft has no obligation to save Nintendo's ass if Nintendo isn't doing anything for Ubisoft.

Nintendo's E3 event is currently in session on Twitch, we'll see if they announce anything interesting. (Showing a new Zelda game right now actually)

Nintendo doesn't know how to play ball with pubs and devs, this isn't some shocking news, is it?

You have to make them happy, not the other way around. Not when they have 3 other platforms that can make them money.

Facts are btw at this point the Wii U has sold more than the Xbox One.

Funny, people always bring this up but they forget the all important other number.

The Wii U sold 6.3 million consoles in 19 months.

The Xbox One did 4.5 million consoles in 7 months.

Wii U - out for 19 months. 330,000 per month average.

Xbone - out for 7 months. 640,000 per month average.

We all love numbers, so sit on those. The Wii U is falling behind in sales and has a poor pace, the XBO and PS4 will outstrip it before even this holiday season and given what games those two consoles have coming out, the Wii U will probably get massacred.

And you wonder why developers and publishers get tired of Nintendos shit. At least MS and Sony sell enough to make the headaches worth it this time around. This isn't the Wii.

Ubisoft has no obligation to spend more of their own money to market and ship a game for a market so limited they can't turn a profit.

No one smart would launch anything directly against smash brothers.

Well that comparison is fairly useless because the XBone has only really existed in launch window hype times. Not that the Wii U has done better during its launch, you're right there, but like for like it's closer to 3:4 and not 1:2 as you suggest. And this was with XBox being the brand to beat before this generation started. As for the pace well it's impossible to tell I'd argue. The Wii U is just starting to gain momentum and the XBone has slowly been losing it. The Wii U is also ahead of the XBOne at this point. So XBone being ahead of the Wii U before November? I wouldn't be so confident. Especially with the strength of Nintendo's showing at E3.

Who said Ubisoft was smart? ;)
