Collecting games rather than playing them, nah I amass games as a byproduct of having played them, I'll never have 25k games.

How do people keep getting this idea? It was in the comments of the article too, it makes no sense. Assuming he's been married for more than a year and he didn't keep it a terrible secret, it makes no sense his family doesn't like the video games being around. Sounds more to me that he's having some sort of financial trouble and it just so happens to have 10 thousand dollars sitting in shrink wrap. Or more, maybe less.

He doesn't say the specific reason why he is selling his collection, apart from this.

 

I simply have an immediate family and extended family that have needs that need to be addressed. While I do not wish to part with these games, I have responsibilities that I have made to others and this action is how I will help meet them.

Would be a consideration if he had a Saturn, Wonderswan, Nomad, Game Gear, and Odyssey.

 

Otherwise, I probably already have a fraction of that collection as free PS Plus and Steam games.

If taking up space is a problem, he should maybe just keep some authentic controllers to use with USB adapters for emulators.
