Cheapest reliable power supply

tiago

Hello guys,

So my dad has a really simple PC (Sandy Bridge Dual core Celeron, 4GB of RAM, mechanical HDD) that is currently using a generic power supply. I know that this PSU is enough for his system, but in a few weeks I'm going to the US (I live in Brazil) and I'm planning on getting him a new PSU there.

What is the cheapest but reliable PSU that you guys would recommend me? I don't care about the wattage, because I know that this machine will never see a dedicated graphics card or anything fancy like that. All I want is a cheap, reliable and, if possible, silent PSU. Bear in mind that when I say "silent" I'm not saying fanless $200 PSU... I want to go with the cheapest possible solution.

Not sure how pricing or availability is for you.

If you can't link us to where you're shopping, check out Antec's Basiq/VP, EVGA's B, and Corsair's CX series.

If you ever need help with a build, read the following before posting: http://linustechtips.com/main/topic/3061-build-plan-thread-recommendations-please-read-before-posting/

Yeah, I'm sorry, totally forgot that. I'll buy this on Amazon, Newegg or anywhere that has 1-day shipping.

The BP350 is $30 on both Amazon and Newegg: http://pcpartpicker.com/part/antec-power-supply-bp350

I know silverstone is pretty reliable but not sure about pricing and I'm too lazy to check.

Selling my parts of my 900D rig for a jacked up Ncase M1. PM me for offers if interested (will take some reasonable-low offers because I'm desperate).

Parts that I'm selling: 900D (1 slot cover broken for stealth DVD drive mod) | Asus Z87 Deluxe | Cooler Master 212 Evo | Corsair 4x2GB black ram @1600mhz | EVGA 1000G2 PSU (2 cables with missing heat shrink) | DVD drive | HP membrane keyboard | Ducky Shine 3 YOTS in blue switches (warranty sticker broken)

Please don't go to threads and do that, it's not helpful :(

I know finding good products in south america is tough, what websites are you using?

Just getting a reputable brand is enough, much better if you can find 80+ PSUs.

Antec, Seasonic, Corsair, XFX, NZXT, Cooler Master, Enermax, Silverstone, and a couple more others, have decent PSUs, and might be available on your country,

If not, try finding Sentey PSUs, they are over all south america and have different product Lines, they are an Intel Partner and a SuperFlower OEM. However their BCP BRP BXP and STY are not recommended (low end stuff).

I, too, will put my vote on the Corsair CX430 or CX430M (semi-modular version).

Having use them into two different systems for friend/family, I have yet to hear any complaints.

A well built ~300W would be plenty, but 430W provides a little bit of room for expansion.

What if the iGPU on the CPU dies?

What if your dad is low on HDD space, and needs a few extra drives?

They may be on Corsair lower-end of the product line-up, but they work nicely.
