Excess fee for going over cap limit (500GB) cause of my type of plan. other than a great ISP

 

ISP: Telstra

Type: business plan(don't slow down once caped instead get charge)

Speed promised speed

DL: 20mb/s getting 23Mb/s(cause exchange is next door)

UL: 0.90Mb/s(upload don't add to usage)

I've literally had enough of living with an ADSL2+ connection, I wish Australia could move to fibre already.

 

I can't even stream to Twitch without massive frame drops and 30 second delays between the broadcast and real-time. This is on 360p, mind you.

I get 0.80 megabits up on a good day. I only live 1.25 kilometres from the exchange which should be close enough.

I hate my ISP plusnet because of the 30 piece of crap router 

we have to use and the lack of help when ever you mention using another router 

and there patronising support people grrrrrrrrrrr!!!@"~£@"3

Oh Data caps..... Canadian ISPs can throttle all they want and still say they're the best because the population thinks that is what good internet is. 

 

"High speed internet" is about 10-15Mbps. And data caps. Oh data caps.

I've got U-Verse. It works when it feels like it. I've got an 18 mbps plan but I rarely get above 14. I can't stream YouTube and Netflix at the same time without YouTube downing the resolution. Yay. It's still quicker and cheaper than the competition. 

You think that's bad... My grandma's package from 2008-2010 has trouble keeping up with me on LTT and someone else going on Google.

That's not the problem. The max COMBINED (not per computer) download is 150KB/s. In actuality it likes to hang around 100KB/s. Upload... 20 to 30KB/s.

Part of it might be that her plan is from 2008-ish, and she has a 2GB data cap to go with it.

 

Seriously, if you ever have the option to get AT&T, run away screaming, and run into Comcast's arms (if you were in Michigan at least).

Well, I think ATT got rid of those such low speeds. Thank god. Now if only I can bail my NetZero contract, shit.

I'm honestly content with my ISP (Time Warner). I don't hate them but I certainly don't love them. Their customer service is the epitome of shit and they're massively overpriced but I get constant 30/5 and occasionally a bit over, the internet almost never goes out, and they don't complain about my 2-3TB of bandwidth usage a month.

Upload speed. Down is ~3 megabyte/s.  Up is ~200 kilobyte/s. (CenturyLink.)

Happy note, moving soon and I'll be getting fiber from XMission.

I hate CenturyLink too! :D

 

10MB/s Down. 500Kb/s Up. $90 a month. :(
