Why cpu and wafers from cpu made are like this?

The silicon "ingot" from which they are made is produced as a cilindrical shape so you get circular discs:

 

Why cpu and other chips are always square/rectangular, and cpu wafer is in shape of circle ?why

Round is the natural shape.

 

I'm not actually trying to be as grumpy as it seems.

Ingots are round because of physics, and dies are rectangular because circles would be way harder to cut and waste just as much material between the circles than on the outside of the disc.

This is actually a very good video.

 

Asianometry channel also has loads of good videos about how chips are made, history of various companies etc.

 

They have at least a couple of videos about how the round ingots from which one cuts wafers are made

 

 

 

 

 

In a bit indirect way, Strange Parts channel has recently released a video showing how a factory makes RGB leds, and has some nice images with led wafers and explains how the wafer is cut and how incredibly small dies are separated on the wafer to be picked up by machines and inserted into those plastic molds.
