1440p or 4k Movies?

I don't think they've ever made movies in 1440p. Kind of pointless to make something for a medium that is pretty rare.

Aren't most movies actually shot in 4k in the first placed then downscaled or whatever? Anyway I think I saw in one of Linus's videos that there are some 4k movies to download but its limited

I'm seeing some titles on Amazon saying remastered in 4k. There not available for download though

Yeah movies are filmed so they look good on the huge theater screens. So it's probably way more than 4k. 

 

It's supposed to look good on the giant screen when you're sitting 10 feet away from it.

Actually most movies are shot with film which has an infinite resolution and is only limited by the resolution of the sensor used to scan the film

Actual Hollywood movies etc. are shot between 16K with 70mm IMAX (really 12K effectively) and 6k depending on the camera used then are scaled down or up for a theater and scaled down to 1080p for Blu-ray.

I was at the movies a while ago and I noticed that right outside the theater it said "Sony 4K" in some nice branding. I was in the first row(only seats left) and it looked phenomenal!
