TV as Secondary Monitor

Champloo

So, I have a pretty solid 23 inch monitor that I use for games- I've tried a few other sizes and this fits my taste the best thus far for serious gaming. However, I also use it as a TV. Right now I'm looking to get a TV that I can also use as a secondary monitor- something I can use as a screen for Twitch streams, guides, etc while I'm in game on my monitor.

Most would say to just buy a large monitor, but monitors are extremely expensive compared to TVs.

Because the TV is going on my desk, I think a 32 would be ideal for my space(and my actual home theater will be where I do most of my watching anyway). Currently, I'm looking at the following Vizio or LG:

Any thoughts on going this route?

Why Vizio or LG? I heard IMO that Sony makes the best TVs.

For any tv... Shop around, compare the brands in your price range. heavily. Read reviews.. ect.

Keep an eye on your local newspaper, Estate sales are great for finding nice Tvs

Oh... and you want to put it on your desk? Why not on a TV stand in front of your bed? Get another monitor if it's going on your desk :P

I use a 2gb 7850 and a 3570k. They're both moderately overclocked, and I was looking into buying another 7850(if I can find one for a decent price), or just upgrading the card altogether.

Why Vizio or LG? I heard IMO that Sony makes the best TVs.

Sony has very few 32 inch models available, and they are very expensive. Not a big fan of samsung TVs, and from the models I have seen in stores I think Panasonic, LG and Vizio look the best(panasonic doesn't have a 1080p 32 inch).

I have a TV stand, but it's currently sitting in my closet. I just prefer the way my room looks with the desk at the center of the wall at the foot of my bed(well, like 4-5 feet from the foot of the bed, you get the idea), and no TV stand, along with dresser and nightstands.

I've done this setup before and it works great. You're idea will be fine OP. I bet you'll enjoy it from the moment you connect it. Having that extra room on the desktop is great.

then go for it, and adding another one will surely make things much better
