Listing of exact spec of hdmi and dp ?

Is there a listing that has all the hdmi and dp versions and spec like each resolution max refresh rate or something to help choose the correct cable at least ?

I have been searching and I don't understand why this information is soo hidden left and right. For example I cannot figure out which cable can run my native 4K 165 hz monitor.

All I can find stop at 144 hz and since there is no way a 2 years old monitor was invented with no cable to test it.

Currently my cable only allow 4K 60hz but I usually run at 1440p 120hz but by upgrading the cable i might as well get one that fully support the monitor.

there is far less 'segmentation' on the cable side than there is on the hardware side. iirc there's only 3 spec levels of HDMI cable, and it's not even worth delving into because cable manufacturers dont even bother listing what spec it was tested against.

first things first.. your cable doesnt "allow" anything. it either handles the signal or it flakes out. if you dont have the option to enable your full res and refresh rate, either the monitor doesnt report it, or the graphics card doesnt support it.

as for what cable to buy... buy one that lists whatever HDMI / DisplayPort spec that your monitor requires (or better). that's not how it's supposed to work for cables, but if it makes the claim it works with HDMI 2.0 and it doesnt, at least that's grounds to return it.
